After reading your company brochure and researching Smith Paper Company, I
became quite interested in the possibility of a cooperative education opportunity
this coming summer. I noted on your website that you have a co-op program, and I
would very much like to have a co-op opportunity in the paper industry. I have
enclosed my rsum for your review.
As a chemical engineering student, I have a wide range of experiences that I feel
will meet your summer internship needs. My academic coursework provides a
technical background in fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and basic
stoichiometry, as well as practical experience in each of these engineering
fundamentals. Additionally, I have had experience working at PennDOT as an
engineering intern. This work experience, although not chemical engineeringrelated, enabled me to obtain the following types of experience:
Leadership of a contracted work crew consisting of 15 laborers
Troubleshooting daily process issues and creating plans for issue resolution
Responsibility for the safety of work crew and the general public
Effectively communicating with a cross-section of employees, from operations
to upper management
Project budgeting and planning
