REORGANIZING OF MUNICIPAL AIDS COUNCIL
WHEREAS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a disease that recognizes no territorial, social,
political and economic boundaries for which there is no known cure;
WHEREAS, the gravity of the AIDS threat demands strong state action today;
WHEREAS, Sec. 9 of Republic Act No. 8504 states that local government units, in collaboration with the
Development of Health, shall conduct an educational and information campaign on HIV / AIDS;
WHEREAS, Municipal Mayors are mandated to coordinate such campaign among concerned government
agencies, NGOs and Church-based groups;
NOW THEREFORE, I, NONATO E. PUACHE , Municipal Mayor, this municipality, by virtue of the powers vested
in me by the Local Government Code of 1991, and other existing laws, do hereby order:
Section 1. Organization and Composition of the Municipal AIDS (MAIDS) Council: The Municipal Aids Council
shall be composed of the following:

Section 2. Duties and Functions of the Municipal Aids Council. - The Municipal MAIDS Council shall have the
following duties and functions:
a. The Council shall be the central advisory, planning and policy-making body for the HIV / AIDS prevention and
control in the municipality;
b. Recommended measures which will improve or enhance the guidelines on medical and other practices and
procedures that carry the risk of HIV transmission;
c. Coordinate the activities of and strengthen working relationship between government and non-government
agencies involved in the campaign against HIV / AIDS.
d. Evaluate the adequacy of and make recommendations regarding the utilization of the local resources for the
prevention and control of HIV / AIDS in the municipality;
e. Perform other functions as may be determined by Ordinate, or law.
Section 3. Municipal AIDS Council Secretariat. - There shall be a Municipal AIDS Council Secretariat which be
chosen from among its members and shall handle the administrative and technical activities. The Secretariat
shall also undertake coordination of activities which appropriate agencies of the government.
Section 4. Repealing Clause. All prior Executive Orders inconsistent herewith shall be deemed superseded,

amended, revised, or modified accordingly by this Order.

Section 5. Effectivity. This Order shall take effect immediately.
