FANUC AWF2 takes the worlds most reliable threading technology one step further for even more convenience,
productivity and accuracy. To ensure reliable threading and re-threading, wires are cut electrically leaving a pointed
end that is absolutely straight and burr-free, even on soft wire. Aided by a jet of water, threading the wire is both
simple and very fast.

Unlike other machines, ROBOCUT does not need to return to the


starting point after a wire break. On the contrary, FANUCs

cycle times even on those challenging micro-machining orders.

Twin servo wire tension control


It ensures consistent cutting by compensating for wire errors. Highprecision wire tension control is made possible using FANUCs
digital servo technology. Comprising fewer parts than conventional
systems, this system employs a pair of 2 servomotors to maintain
wire tension to 15g of accuracy.

world. Designed for maximum precision, FANUC CNCs are extremely easy

demanding cutting operations, the FANUC 31i-WB High-Performance
Control supports up to 7 or 6 simultaneously controlled axes and, by

Offering huge flexibility, shapes can be generated on a PC or imported as IGES or DXF files or 3D data (STEP files).

Boasting a proven track record in CNC wire EDM, FANUC is also a pioneer of polycrystalline diamond (PCD machining
technology). The result is the unique FANUC PCD Generator our own proprietary hardware and cutting technology
for easy, high-precision machining, even of poorly conducting materials. Featuring contact-free polishing for
superlative surfaces, FANUC PCD generator also supports the use of a rotary axis for virtual sculptured surfaces.
Using this additional rotary axis, complex parts can be machined simultaneously without exerting mechanical force
onto the workpiece. This makes FANUC PCD an ideal alternative to traditional polishing or turning methods, and the
perfect solution for producing very small diameter parts.

To ensure seamless cutting on non-stop production


runs, ROBOCUTs automatic wire feed (AWF2)
automatically rethreads the wire in case of
breaking. It does this submerged in the cutting gap
and so dispenses with the need to drain and refill
the water tank.

For PCD wire cutting offers considerable


advantages over diamond grinding. Edge
quality is excellent, running costs are low and
sophisticated profiles can be cut to incredible
degrees of accuracy in just a few cutting cycles.

For maximum precision and versatility, this


compact, lightweight universal positioning table
comes with high-resolution glass scales and for
maximum concentricity provides optimum travel
between the U and V axes.

and mirror finishes but also ensures maximum

ROBOCUT comes with a range of features

machining. These include advanced taper cutting
compensation, FANUCs soft wire AWF2 and twin

program. Cutting keyways is that easy. Once the
cycle has started, positioning and cutting are
automatic, making this the convenient way to
cut keyways.

Dispensing with the need for an operator to


monitor the machine, soft wire AWF2 allows
continuous unmanned machining on extended
production runs thanks to extended electrode life.
