Jose Rizals movie by Montero

This movie was not just a boring biographical

documentary about jos Rizals birth and death, but
rather it was indeed a perfect blend of the important
aspects of Rizals life, works and personality, It gave a
clear idea about the real person rizal is, I watched the
movie with all my heart, contemplating in my mind about
questions I have always wondered about, I have heard of
the name jos rizal countless times before , rizal the
national hero, the pride of the Filipinos , rizal the
outstanding writer whose two novels portrayed the
misery of the Filipinos under the Spanish colonization and
awakened nationalism among the oppressed Filipinos
and yet, I havent heard of rizal the human being, his
feelings, motivations and inspirations where things that
are not really elaborated, I knew that he wanted to free
the Philippines from the Spanish colonization but the real
question was, why him?
among all the other oppressed Filipinos during his time,
why was he the first one who stood against Spain, all by
himself, what made throw away his peaceful life and walk
into the battle field, what kind of life rizal had that turned
him into the person he was, my questions were answered
by the movie
the movie showed scenes of rizals childhood, that time
when his mother was taken to prison in front of him for
some unjustifiable crime, watching that part, I imagined
how sad rizal was, if I was in his place I would feel a cold

fire raging through my chest and a deep hatred for who

ever caused my mother to experience such brutality, in
this case the friars, I am sure rizal had that fire burning in
his chest and it even grew bigger when he heard about
the execution of GONBURZA from his brother paciano,
rizal loved his brother and shared his sadness as well as
his hatred towards the oppresers, it was his brother who
first instilled in him the meaning of rebellion and
nationalism.
rizal made his rebellion, not with weapons but with books,
he wrote he two great novels the noli me tangere and the
el filibusteresmo, the movie portayed parts of his novels,
his protagonist Crisostomo Ibarra, representing rizals old
self, ambicious and full of hopes, but his dreams were
ccrushed by the cruelty of the friars, this changed him
and he took another name ,Simoun the jeweler who
wanted nothing but to destroy the Spaniards by all means
and lead a revolution, we studied those stories in high
school but we never understood the deep meaning of
them and how much they reflected about rizals person.
at first he just wanted equality with the Spaniards, to be
treated the same and have equal rights, this was evident
in eloquent speech he gave during the victory of hidalgo
and luna, he stressed the deep relationship between the
two countries and that filipinoes can dio as much
