entitled The Culture of Affect Affects in Culture. Humanities after the Affective Turn, which
will take place between the 6th and 8th of June this year in Krakw. At the symposium we
would like to turn our attention first and foremost toward the modern and post-modern
forms of representation and/or of articulation of affect in texts of culture. We are also
interested in the status of the affect itself in culture and social life, status which is
undergoing changes in philosophical, cultural-historical and theoretical perspectives;
varieties of affect (intensities, feelings, emotions, moods...) and its forms (shame, fear,
loathing, joy...); as well as the dimensions and consequences of the Affective Turn in
Humanities.

Key areas of interest:

- Status of the (post)-modern affect,
- The "anatomy" of affect an attempt at formulating a definition,
- Affect in theory; the philosophy of affect,
- Forms of affective representation and/or articulation in texts of culture,
- Methods of studying affect in Literature/Visual Arts/New Media/ Theatre,
- Different poetics of affect; affective genres,

- Dimensions and consequences of the Affective Turn; the Affective Turn in the context of
other "turns" in the field of Humanities,
- Inter-(trans-)disciplinarity,
