World Peace Day

Objective
To organize a one-day football tournament for the kids and through this give them the opportunity and encouragement for unity within the community by breaking any down barriers of
beliefs, race, class or gender.
Summary
GVI Jalova celebrated World peace day by working together with the Parismina School to
create a football tournament, where teams represented different countries. The day was full of
competition, laughs and unity, the Parismina kids showed us plenty of flair and more importantly all how to play football in 30 degree heat.

Report
Here at GVI Jalova one of our
key objectives this year is to
increase our engagement with
the local community. Therefore we have started working
with the school at Parismina
in a wide range of projects
from snake biology, conservation and sustainability. In our
latest visit we organized a
one-day football tournament
to celebrate world peace day.
This tournament was our way
of integrating with the local
community in order to promote world peace, a day were
we could all show respect and appreciation for others close to home and all around the world.

In the blistering heat

the tournament kicked
of with a match between team Costa Rica vs Jamaica. A close
fought out game saw
Costa Rica come out
victorious with a 3 nil
victory. Then it was
the turn of Japan vs
Brazil, this close encounter saw the school
kids display wonderful skills and fitness
under excellent tropical conditions. The final match saw the USA vs Colombia battled it out
in the closest match yet, with the GVI team getting the only win of the day. The final whistle
brought the real victory of the day, which was the integration between the various teams, after sharing a couple of refreshments and smiles the winning team received their rewards,
brand new GVI Jalova t-shirts.
Despite the distance between our hub and the local community the tournament has brought us
closer than ever and has set up the perfect platform for future activities between us and our
local family.
