RESEARCH DESIGN

Define the problem:

Insufficient energy supply

Rapid increase of greenhouse gasses
High cost of electricity
Scarcity of natural resources

Specify Requirements:
The researchers need to study the geographical area in General Trias Cavite and its
weather condition. They also need to use formula to determine the efficiency of solar and wind
energy. The amount of land space required to generate a particular kilowatts of electricity must
also be known.

Solutions:
By studying the previous researches, the researchers can determine the wind speed on the
particular area, the amount of light that the sun gives on the different time.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

Location. Choosing the suitable site is essential. The location is very important because it will
affect the power generated of the energy. For the solar energy, the amount of sunlight must be
abundant and it would be better if there will be no obstruction. Obstructions like high walls, trees
or anything that can block the sunlight. The area of the solar panel will also determine how much
energy it can absorb. In wind energy system, the effectiveness of it relies also in its area. The
wind turbine must be placed in high areas so it can absorb stronger wind. It should be also clear
to obstruction that can affect the speed of the wind turbine.

Review of Previous Research. Understanding previous studies will help the researchers to
understand more how to work on the problems. It will also help because it is already validated
ant it can serve as the basis of this study. By knowing the data about the previous weather
conditions, the materials used, it will make the current study to be much easier and reliable.
Assessment of Weather Conditions. Assessment of weather condition in the area is important.
The amount of the sunlight, its direction over time and for the wind, the wind speed and its
direction on regular basis must be all considered. This must be done to accomplish the goal.
The speed of the turbine is the most important parameter in evaluating the power from the wind
system. It is often understated by the manufacturers or misunderstood by the buyers that the
power rating of a wind turbine is only true at a given speed , known as the rated speed, which is
neither too low or too high, but somewhere in between it is trusted that the wind turbine will be
able to withstand the forces of rotation.
The data of the wind speed will be measured according to the readings of accuweather.com
The panel is important in evaluating the power from the solar energy system. It is also given by
the manufacturers what type it is. The dust can also affect the power it will absorb from the sun.

Choosing the best solution. After collecting the data from the previous studies and the present
study, the researchers can now evaluate it. With the help of different formulas, it can be
determined now which will be more efficient and effective on selected areas of General Trias,
Cavite.
