Ahlstroms new molding materials have a range of features
that benefit both food processors and brand owners.
Sustainability
Ahlstroms molding materials are an environmentally
friendly alternative to molds or trays made of plastic or
aluminum, or trays produced with synthetic polymers
such as PET (Polyester) or PE (Polyethylene).
Our molding materials are made from renewable
sources, produced from FSC 1 certified pulp and
are biodegradable 2. Using environmentally friendly
materials instead of aluminum or plastic help to
reduce the carbon footprint of the production
process of the whole value chain.
Products and services need to meet customer
sustainability requirements. Using renewable molding
materials helps meet and exceed these expectations.

Performance
Our fiber based tray materials are strong and flexible.
It will not dent before or after the product is packed.
The laminated parchment is designed to provide
excellent runnability during processing and will denest easily. The 100% cellulose based substrate will not
cause false positive results in metal detectors.

An optimized coating allows for easy release and

improves cooking: the food will not stick to the mold or
tray not requiring pre-greasing the tray thanks to its
parchment lining. Furthermore, compared to other mold
substrates such as aluminum, the vegetable parchment
molds do not retain heat, therefore handling is safer.

Visual components
Ahlstroms new molding materials offer superior
branding and differentiation properties compared
to similar products. The molding materials can be
watermarked or dyed with a range of FDA/BfR 3
approved colors. Both coloring and watermarking can
be used to differentiate and guarantee authenticity in
the market as the watermark will be virtually impossible
to counterfeit.
