Scenario

1-3

The ADS Engineering Group has been tasked with

coming up with tools to reduce item part
proliferation. Every time a need arises, some
engineers find it easier to just create a new part
number. The Engineers have stated that it is easier
and quicker to create a new item.
The group knows they need a method for item
classification. Data security is very important as it
is different for different groups. They would like to
be able to search for items based on the items
characteristics. They would also like to be able to
quickly compare one item to others and have that
comparison displayed differently for each type of
item.

like to see you create. They have provided information
such as attributes and values they would like to see
modeled.
The Electric Engines item creation is controlled by the
Product Manager and the Diesel Engine and Diesel
Engine Components item creation are controlled by
the Design Engineer.
Create the required Item Catalog Categories, Attribute

Recap

1-51

Your prospect wants to be able to track many

different elements of a product line. How can you
help them solve this?
Some of these elements can be free form and
others should have to choose from a predefined
set of data. How can you help solve this?
Marketing only wants to see the attributes they are
responsible for. How would you solve this?
