Settling
into campus
Our culture is the way we handle the basics
of living, such as food, shelter, clothing, family
organisation, government, law and order,
relationships with people, celebrations and
religion. Culture affects every part of our lives.
Arriving in a new country, meeting new people
and learning a new culture can be a culture
shock, and it is important to remember this as
you adapt to life in the UK. The British Council
guide Cultural Connections provides essential
Information on cultural awareness. There is also a
First Steps Guide produced by Education UK.
