VISA PROCEDURE

Documents required:
Admission letter(make sure that the admission letter is signed and carries university seal)-2 copies(English and German)
Two duly filled and signed application forms for long-term visa (you can collect this form VFS or download from VFS site).
Declaration of Genuineness of documents submitted (Covering letter)-English and German
Two identical photos need to be submitted out of which one is to be pasted on the application form; the second photo should be
submitted loose.
Photos have to meet the following requirements:
a. Only photos of a very high quality can be accepted
b. Photos should not have any stapler pin marks disfiguring the face or the background
c. Size of the photo 35 mm X 45 mm(you can take picture at Chennai VFS, I am not sure with other VFS)
d. Proportion of the head in the photo must be 70 - 80 % of the complete photo
e. Photos should have a light background
Former academic certificates (Original and A4 sized copy degree certificates and mark sheets are required), submit only
Photocopies and show original for references (Never submit your original mark sheets)
Proof of Language Proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS, not older than 12 months, A4 sized copy)
Proof of German language proficiency is required if course language (even partly) is German
Financial Documents: This is where most of the students get confused. Show as many documents as possible e.g. Educational Loan
Sanction Letter, Your Dads or your Bank Statement, FDs, Recurring Deposits, Mutual Funds investment documents, Sold Property.
Here embassy is more interested to see your liquid cash so just try to show as much cash as possible. Proof of financial means to
support the entire period of study.

Sponsorship Letter: Prepare a letter stating that your parents are ready to sponsor your stay and study expenses incurred while
studying at the university. Make your signature along with your parents signature.
a. Its not mentioned on website but I was asked to submit this letter at the time of interview.
b. Bank covering letter: dont forget to get a letter from the bank manager stating that you or your sponsor is having account in this
bank from DD.MM.YYYY and residing at (ADDRESS) having an account balance of XXXXXX.XX INR which is equal to XXXXX.XX Euros
as on dd.mm.yyyy(date)- make two photo copies and get it translated to German(2 copies).
c. Affidavit of support and self affidavit (2 copies, in English as well as in German)-Should get this from a lawyer in a 20 rupee stamp
paper.

At VFS you might need to pay VISA fee around 4300, so carry some more money with you (VISA fee might vary).
After submitting these documents in VFS, they will fix an appointment at German embassy and give you the first interview date.
FIRST INTERVIEW:
On the date of your first interview take all original documents with you and one set of photocopy. Be on time
The interviewer might ask some general questions. Stay cool and answer all the questions..

1. Whats ur parents do...?

2. Do u have any sister or brothers? What they do?
3. Whats ur Btech major?
4. Whats ur Master major?
5. Whats there in the course?
6. Why this course? Do u know German
7. Why GERMANY?....why not in UK r US?(say genuine reason ). Why this univ . Course curriculum. Course language

8. What is the exact date that u have send the documents to the university?**rare question
9. IELTS exam date n score? **rare question
10. Financial support? Father or self or loan or someone?
11. Whats ur father income?
12. How this course will helpful to u in the future....?
13. Famous people in Germany?
14. Do u stay in Germany after ur studies/ your plan after studies?
Say that u will come back because you need to take of of ur family or something else. Never say that you will stay in Germany.
15. Do you know anyone in Germany?
16. How many univs you applied?
17. How many univs you got admitted for. Why this univ then.
18. Application deadline, date of receiving your admission letter.

19. Famous persons from Germany.

20. Chancellor, president of Germany?

Then collect your passport form VFS after 2/3 days. If you receive your passport without any VISA rejection letter then proceed for
second interview (VISA stamping). You can collect passport from VFS or via post (MENTION THIS WHILE APPLYING IN VFS)

You can get translated from Goethe or Maxmueller Bhavan or from a translator (with sign and seal).

SECOND INTERVIEW

As soon as Consulate receives confirmation from German Authority, you will get a call from embassy saying that your VISA has been
approved and ask you to come for VISA stamping.
- It might take 2-6 weeks to get VISA approval.

Take a DD for XXXX Euro(will be mentioned in a letter that you will receive within 2-8 weeks after first interview) or open a blocked
account in Deutsch bank(if mentioned) and transfer the money to that account- 2 copies.

Flight ticket confirmation-2 copies

Go to VFS and apply for second interview and they will fix an appointment.

Then on the day of second interview go to the embassy and get your VISA stamped

The total process might take around 4-8 weeks.
