PAGKAMATAY
Araw ng pagkamatay: May 13, 1903
Edad: 38 y/o
Dahilan: Cholera
- When the United States announced that it would annex the Philippines,
Mabini joined Aguinaldo in a renewed struggle for independence. American
forces captured Mabini on December 10, 1899. For awhile, Mabini lived under
house arrest. Refusing to submit to American authority, Mabini continued to
write inflammatory tracts against the occupying power. The American
government exiled Mabini to Guam in 1901. During his long exile, Apolinario
Mabini wrote La Revolucion Filipina, a memoir. Worn down and sickly, fearing
that he would die in exile, Mabini finally agreed to take the oath of allegiance
to the US. On February 26, 1903, Mabini returned to the Philippines. Mabini
continued to speak and write in support of Philippine independence over the
next several months. He fell ill with cholera, which was rampant in the
country after years of war, and died on May 13, 1903. Apolinario Mabini was
only 38 years old.
