Senior Credit Analyst - Toronto
Purpose of Position:
Primarily responsible for review and assessment of completed mortgage applications PRIOR TO FUNDING.
Reviews require thorough evaluation of documentation, compliance to company policy guidelines, and assessing
the quality of asset and the due diligence performed by underwriting staff. The mandate is to review primarily pre
funded files , however on occasion position may assist with post funded QA and other specialty QA reviews i.e.
arrears, special investigations etc.
Findings/Observations are reported regularly to Senior Credit Operations and Senior QA Management. All data
/reports are used to identify opportunities for staff coaching, policy clarification, fraud mitigation, with the goal of
improving consistency and overall quality of the Street Capital Financial Corporation mortgage portfolio.
Oversight can be broad at times and will also include constant execution of Fraud Mitigation practices, Policy
Review/Recommendations, General Guidance, and Corporate Governance as / and when required.
Core Responsibilities:
Ensure pre funding reviews are conducted on all designated / delegated files within corporate mandates,
prior to funding
Ensure Pre-Funding reviews are conducted daily/weekly monthly as required on a timely, efficient and
objective basis
Provide approval to Underwriters to proceed with Funding when applicable
This includes but is not limited to the assessment of all file data elements, required financial documents,
client information, broker file transmissions, insurers transmissions, and other miscellaneous legal
documentation, and noting any exceptions / deviations to policy
Provide guidance, opinions and recommendations to Underwriting staff and related stakeholders on
relative credit issues/ findings
Refer unsatisfactory or incomplete files to Credit Management for further handling
Refer any files where perceived misrepresentation appears evident to Senior QA Management for
handling
Prepare monthly Executive Summary reporting on all activity
Assist the Street Capital Quality Assurance Group in all special assignments that may arise or be
delegated.
Ensure the number of files reviewed meet corporate expectations monthly
Recommend changes for updates to fraud mitigation initiatives
Monitor daily/ weekly /monthly Underwriter activity relative to Prefund required files and report
deviations to Senior Management as may be required
Provide general assistance with regularly scheduled on site audit reviews conducted by external partners
such as Insurers, Regulators, Auditors, Investors or others as required
Provide guidance, opinions and recommendations to Underwriting staff and related stakeholders on
relative credit issues
Participate and occasionally prepare/assist in executive style presentations related to Quality Assurance
initiatives as required
Assist in developing, maintaining and enhancing/evolving an independent QA Data Base
Manage the day to day Data Base functions, maintaining the integrity of information input into the QA
Database and making recommendations for upgrades as required

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:


Minimum 5 years Mortgage/Lending Adjudication experience,
Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage operations, credit policies, including credit principles, practices,
processes, products and services
Well-developed communication and interactive skills, verbal and written, sufficient to provide clear and
detailed explanation and interpretation of information, analysis and recommendations
Well-developed intuitive skills, sufficient to complete requisite analysis and provide ongoing advice and
guidance
Well-developed negotiation skills to promote/negotiate client and group acceptance of existing, new or
revised programs, policies and procedures
Ability to adapt and develop new strategies for continued efficiencies, and conceptualization of new
approaches in Quality Assurance and Fraud Mitigation
Working knowledge of the complexities and characteristics of business and credit practices/activities /
services across other financial institutions and industry competitors
Ability to operate independently with limited supervision
Results, Relationship and Service oriented
Proficiency in the use and operation of Microsoft Office applications i.e. Filogix Express, Excel, Word,
PowerPoint and Access.
Ability to instill and promote a One Team approach with all vested SCF stakeholders

Overtime may be required on occasion
