Learning Outcomes To advance skills on how to conduct design research, analyze data,
translate findings into actionable concepts, and produce viable
products/experiences while considering the “system and culture” in which
they reside.
To have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the new curriculum for
Design in 2012
Format This is a studio-based course that requires active student participation. The
class will meet 1 day per week up to 3+ hours each day. Class sessions will be
comprised of lectures, project assignments, critique sessions, class
discussions and group meetings. The class will gather and analyze data
collectively in order to inform individual teams’ design direction.

Participation
and Preparation Attendance is mandatory, but in the event of an emergency, e-mail the
instructor prior to the class and explain why you are not coming. You
can also contact the design administrative office at 292-6746, and they
will get a message to the instructor.
Class participation in critiques, discussions and final presentations is
essential.

Academic
Misconduct Academic misconduct is defined as “any activity which tends to
compromise the
academic integrity of the institution, or subvert the educational
process.” Please refer to rule 3335-31-02 in the student code of
conduct for examples of academic misconduct. Any cases of academic
misconduct will be referred to the Committee on Academic Misconduct
(see http://oaa.osu.edu/coam/home.html).
