1. Magnetic & Gyrocompass

1.1

Gyrocompass Dockside Test

1.1.1

Normal power and backup 24VDC power supply for automatic change
over from emcy power source should be tested normal.

1.1.2

Commissioning Engineer to confirm that all equipment according to the


order has been correctly installed.

1.1.3

Start Gyrocompass. The Gyrocompass should perform a self test and no


errors should be reported on its control and display Panel located on
the main compass unit.

1.1.4

Check that the Gyrocompass are receiving speed and Position from the
DGPS.

1.1.5

Once the Gyrocompass have settled, (should settle within approximately 3


~4 hrs.), check that all Gyro repeaters that are connected directly to the
Gyro system, indicate the same heading as the selected gyrocompass and
that the repeaters follow the gyrocompass correctly.

1.1.6

Check, that all repeaters operate satisfactory when switching from


Gyrocompass to magnetic Compass on Compass Monitor Unit.

1.1.7

Observe on the compass monitor display, that the actual heading of the
magnetic compass is shown correctly.

1.1.8

Place a metal object e.g. a spanner on the top of the magnetic compass, and
slowly slew the magnetic compass 90 degrees out from the base heading.
Observe, that the magnetic heading on the compass monitor display
indicates same heading (+/- 1 degree).

1.1.9

Functions on heading management display need to be tested


(heading Source selection, offset adjustment alarms, warning etc.)

1.1.10

Startup configuration table and parameters need to be filled as per


Manufacturer check list.

1.2

Magnetic&Gyrocompass Sea Trial Test

1.2.1

Check that the Heading as applicable corresponds to the ships actual


Heading.
Note: 1. This test can only be done when the gyrocompass system is
calibrated by the land poles purposely for heading calibration or
by other available means
2. The magnetic compass must be calibrated by an
authorized magnetic compass corrector (Yard).

1.2.2

Check that the Gyrocompass indicate the correct heading within 1 degree by
checking coastal light lines on the paper chart or by other means

Check that correct heading data are available to all peripheral equipment
that the system in linked

1.2.4

Magnetic deviation chart should be submitted after calibration.(yard)

1.2.5

Need to submit calibration certificates for Gyro compass & magnetic


Compass upon successful completion.(yard)

2. VisionMaster FT Radar System(X-Band)

2.1.1

Commissioning Engineer to confirm that all equipment according to the


order has been correctly installed.

2.1.2

Start up radar display. Clear any start-up alarms. Observe that no faults
are displayed and the radar will go into standby.

2.1.3

Check that the trackball operates satisfactory.

2.1.4

Select transmit and check that the radar operates satisfactory.

2.1.5

Check the functions of the VM Radar Control panels where fitted.

2.1.6

Check Gyro heading is present and correct.

2.1.7

Check DGPS Position input is present and same as the selected DGPS
unit.

2.1.8

Enable AIS input and check AIS targets are present.

2.1.9

Carry out the Radar Performance Monitor test (PM)

Check isolation switch.

Submit installation report including startup configuration data.

Radar Sea trial Test (Displays)

2.2.1

Check heading, GPS, AIS inputs are being updated correctly.

2.2.2

Acquire some targets, verify that the tracker operates satisfactory,


and the target data readout is correct(ARPA).

2.3

Radar Sea trial Test (Transceivers)

2.3.1

Observe that radar operate satisfactory during the sea trial.

2.3.2

Check alignment of the heading lines on radar antenna

Check and record blind sectors

Check accuracy of radar by range and bearing to a known point e.g. a


light tower.

Create a Guard zone, and observe that the radar will acquire

Display contrast and brightness adjusting should be normal.


4 display mode(A.B.C.D) can be switched normally.

A (NAV1) screen: Indicates your present position as numerical data.


B (NAV2) screen: Displays a bearing circle (with your boat positioned at the graph
center). It shows the bearing, course, deviation, distance and cross track error from

C (NAV3) screen: Shows a 3-dimensional view indicating the distance, course, cross
track error, and deviation from the waypoint.
D (PLOT) screen: Indicates the track of your boat, your present position, waypoint,
and memory position.

2.6

Press MOB Key to test MOB (Man over-board) function.

2.7

Verify signals output from NMEA Buffer to other equipments should


be normal. (such as radar,GMDSS Equipments etc.)

2.8

Submit installation report .

Go to target list menu,It will displays a list of


all targets sorted by range from own ship (closest first). The list
Should includes MMSI or ships name (Ship Id), range (RNG),
bearing (BRG) and time since last report was received (Age) for
each AIS target received by the system.

Highlight any one of vessel from target list.press ENTER to view


Extended infos of selected target. The extended infos should includes
Static ,dynamic & voyage related data.

The voyage related parameters can be set from AIS voyage sub menu.
Navigational status, destination, & ETA, etc are availabe to set.

Switch to SSB Mode from control unit,enter a testing channel


number(e.g. CH1211 ),Test the transmiting and receiving,it should
be normal.

Switch to AM radio mode,enter frequency of a local radio station,


and sound should be heard clearly.

To carry out a DSC test with a coast station,acknowledge info. Should


be received from test coast station.(test result may affected
by weather,time,and position)

The emcy light supplied by radio console shall be normal.

To test the NDBP terminal by communicate with a coast

10. Radar SART

Check the batteries are within its expiry date.

2.3

Perform the self test for each SART. Verify the SART performance
By observing the response on the X-band radar.
(If the SART II responds to the radar, the red light in the base of
the SART II will be continuously lit and the buzzer will sound
every 2 seconds.)
