2.2. Steps for establishment of the PMO in selected organization:


In the organization, PMO establishment need to be done after planning. For this reason a
framework will be made that will prepare the project team with respect to the PMO
implementation steps. Steps are:
STEP 1: Preparing the undertaking group about task administration procedures and how
PMO execution will help with applying administration procedures during project life cycle.
STEP 2: Include stakeholders while settling on the choice of PMO usage so it will actualize
with all stakeholders agreement. It is essential to make all stakeholders comprehend about
the focal points an association can get by actualizing PMO.
STEP 3: Must resolve all questions raised by project team and stakeholders regarding PMO
implementation.
STEP 4: For better team work it is essential that everyone should be clear about PMO rules
and responsibilities.
STEP 5: when PMO is implemented then give training to all team members about project
management process. Also PMO develop strategy for all projects and this strategy applied to
all projects.
STEP 6:check and balance is very important like PMO report must be submitted to CEO to
check for better performance of organization.
STEP 7: Evaluate if the standardized templates and processes are proving effective and thus
evaluating the project scheduling and project status in the presence of PMO which will be
forwarded to the CEO. Also project cost will be monitored and reported to the CEO.
STEP 9: PMO implementation, standardized project plans will be developed for all projects.
PMO will keep on monitoring and controlling all the projects based on project management
methodologies thus improving the project quality for long term better performance.

2.3. Resistances faced during implementation of PMO:


Although for better performance of organization PMO implementation will be required but
PMO faces lot of challenges during implementation. some of which are as follows:

Resistance can come by top administration including chiefs and a few partners as they

thought that PMO usage will bring about lessening of their power in the association.
One of the significant challenge PMO implementation can face is inflexible society
that will oppose any change without investigating the effects of that change on the

association.
There can be absence of progress administration technique in an association that can

oppose the change of PMO execution.


Lack of project management culture in an organization may also provide challenge in
PMO implementation as top management will not be aware of project management

processes which can be implemented only in the presence of PMO.


Some colleagues can also resist for PMO implementation as they may not feel free to
work under the command of someone who can report about their performance directly

to the CEO.
Investors can also create issue for PMO implementation as they may not want to
accept the cost of PMO due to inexperience of benefits of PMO in terms of project

cost.
Project managers may provide resistance as they may feel uncomfortable to follow
their own methods instead of following project management methodologies.

2.4. Steps to overcome resistances in PMO implementation:


After resolving all the challenges PMO is implemented. These issues can be solved by
following methods:

PMO rules must be clear to everyone involved in an organization and clear them that
it only improve the quality of project and enhance the organizations value .it is not

implemented to divide the power or authority.


Inflexible organizational culture can be changed to flexible culture that will welcome
any positive change which has a direct impact on projects objectives. This can be
done by making them understand about the disadvantages of inflexible organizational

structure.
Such a PMO is to be presented who follows the hierarchical culture and work in a
joint effort with the project group without influencing the current society of the
association.

It should be made clear to all stakeholders that PMO implementation will benefit the
organization in terms of cost.
