rincipal Tim Dorway prompted laughter,

and some groans, when he welcomed
Chanhassen High Schools Class of 2016
and prefaced it with the National Weather
Services storm warning, for the evening.
Despite the unpredictable weather outside
and the forecast, the only Storm that developed was the
graduation of 378 seniors in the Class of 2016.
As is custom, a series of graduates opened the 7 p.m.
ceremony by greeting the graduates and their guests
in their native languages English, Spanish, Somali,

The program included the song Thankful
performed by Chanhassen High School Concert Choir,
and an instrumental number, We Can Dream,
performed by graduating senior musicians. Student
speakers were Shavonne Edison and Brenden Olevson;
the class selected teacher David Carlson as its staff
speaker.

As residents hit beaches and trails this

summer, they can do so knowing Carver
County has a goose control plan in place.
On Tuesday, a formal goose management program was approved by the Carver
County Board.
In the past, the county, cities and private
groups have individually taken action
to limit goose population around parks,
beaches and golf courses.
However, a formal county program was
developed this year, in part, because the
state Department of Natural Resources
wants local governments to have clear
plans in place before hiring contractors
to remove geese, said Carver County Park
Director Marty Walsh.
Walsh said that county staff will be monitoring the goose population to determine
whether any action is needed this year.
