Im Jeremy Lwin and Im a current Vice President of the EUS for 2016, and Im
running as a candidate for the EUS President for 2017. No matter if youre a
local or if youve moved from out of town, starting at UQ can be a daunting
task even for the most outgoing person.
I want to have a focus on First and Second years and opening up more
avenues for them to access the club
Over the course of this year we have begun to develop initiatives that
engage first years and newer residents and give them greater opportunities
to engage with EUS and our affiliated societies. I was an influential figure in
the implementation of the $10 fixed price first year membership which has
allowed over 200 more first year students to access our clubs and societies.
In a broad sense however I believe we can continue to do more here and this
will be a key focus if I am elected president. Here are some of my idea's
- Investigating

the possibility of an Engineering integration camp run in mid-sem first

semester.
- Creation of 2nd year mentor program to help transition first years into EUS and the
affiliated club.
- First-year representatives to the EUS to increase engagement and get new ideas
from our younger members.
- First-year specific industry seminars run in cohesion with the affiliated clubs, the
industry and the EUS.
