Notes Regarding Events on the FIBA Oceania Calendar

Competition

Background Information
These events are open to any of the 21 member federations of the FIBA
Oceania zone (refer note following). The event qualifies a team (teams) to
the corresponding World Event the following year.
If the corresponding event in the following year is an Olympic Games only those
Federations in nations where a National Olympic Committee exists, may
participate in the Oceania Championship.

FIBA Oceania Championship

Divisions Played (with FIBA competition code in brackets): Men (OMSM) every 2 years in odd years
Women (OMSW) every 2 years in odd years
U-18 Men (OMJM) every 2 years in odd years
U-18 Women (OMJW) every 2 years in odd years
U-16 Men (OMCM) every 2 years in even years
U-16 Women (OMCW) every 2 years in even years
These events are open to any of the 21 member federations of the FIBA
Oceania zone.
Divisions Played:FOPBC (Opens) Played every 4 years.
Mens World Cup (2 Oceania teams can qualify)
Womens Championships (1 Oceania team can qualify)

Competition limited to 12 mens & 12 womens team.
Competition structure dictated by charter varies with number of
teams entered.
Played every four years under the control of the Pacific Games
Council.
