Welcome Fellow Trader,

This quick one-page guide was designed to let you know what to expect from Mark
on a day-to-day basis.
Please remember, that all investment decisions and holding periods are always up
to the individual trades. Mark Melnick does not offer stock picks or investmen

9:30am - 4:00pm: Intraday Plays
Time Frame: 0 minutes - 6 hours
Based on: Technical Analysis, Options Flow, Research, News
Conviction: Low to High
Trader Personalities: Scalpers, Intraday Traders
Throughout the day, I detail my intraday trades in options and stocks, with occa
sional longer-term ideas. As a rule of thumb, I often sell 75-100% of a position
when a profit can be secured. These profit can be anywhere from 5% to 100%, and
sometimes more.
Knowing what the market is doing overall helps me decide on ideas. I generally u
se SPY and QQQ to read general market direction.
9:30am - 4:00pm: Chatter Plays
Time Frame: 1 second - 3 hours
Based on: News or Research Event
Conviction: High
Trader Personalities: Scalpers, Intraday Traders
Depending on market conditions, I sometimes use chatter plays to exploit incoming
algorithmic action based on a news story. On rare occasions, holding times can b
e measured in seconds. These trades account for the majority of my home runs.
3:30pm - 4:00pm: Overnight Plays
Time Frame: 1 day - 30 days
Based on: Technical Analysis, Options Flow, Research, News

Conviction: Medium to High

Trader Personalities: Swing Traders
While many of my strategies are based on pure intraday technicals, I can gain co
nviction for overnight plays if there is something else attached like positive r
esearch notes, investing conference appearances, options flow, as well as my own
research. I usually look to lock in profits and let some ride, but sometimes I
immediately lock all in. I almost always do these plays through options expiring
in about one month..
