What is a 10x10 kitchen?

The simple answer is that the kitchen cabinet industry has settled upon a 10x10 L shaped kitchen
standard as a way to tell you how much a given style or type of cabinet would cost to fill that 10x10 foot
space. In real life, we seldom ever find a 10x10 foot kitchen. But, it is a useful tool for estimating how
much a kitchen might cost for your space and for estimating the cost difference between cabinet styles.

Warning! Just because the industry has agreed to use this method does not mean every cabinet-maker
will use the method when advertising their prices. So how do you know if a particular company who is
advertising 10x10 pricing is using the industry standard or just making it up?
Just remember this, a 10x10 kitchen contains 12 particular sized cabinets, without substitution. What
this means is that there are 12 cabinets that make up a 10x10 kitchen space and the same 12, no
matter what. Some companies try to use a configuration that is not realistic so that they can only offer
11 cabinets in that same space, thus making their 10x10 price less than their competition. If you come
across a company like that, you should probably go elsewhere before you waste your time because its
already obvious that the company is being less than honest.
In addition, most online cabinet-makers advertise pricing for just the unassembled cabinets. At The
Shabby Craftsman, we advertise pricing for the cabinets including assembly and installation. Therefore,
you can estimate your total cost. Again, whether you are purchasing Ready to Assemble Cabinets or
Custom Cabinets, we strongly advise that you make an appointment, let us measure your space, and
discuss any special features you might require in order to give you a more accurate quote.

order for you to be able to find a cabinet you like without going over your budget.
The best way to know exactly what your new kitchen will cost is to have a professional design done.

First, email us at TheShabbyCraftsman@gmail.com and request your free catalog with 10x10 pricing for
each style of cabinet.
Second, measure the total running feet of your kitchen. This is done by measuring the running feet from
one end of the kitchen to each corner and then to the other end of the kitchen. If you have an island,
double the running feet (a six foot island is 12 feet).
Next, divide the 10x10 kitchen price you like by 20 (ten feet plus ten feet). This will give you an average
price per running foot. Then multiply this by the running feet you measured above.
Example: Using our Artic White Shaker pricing of $3,495 for a 10x10 kitchen, when divided by 20 you will
get an average price of $174.75 per running foot. Lets pretend your kitchen is 15x20 per your
measurement. That means you have 35 running feet of kitchen cabinets. Multiply 35 feet by $174.75
and you get an installed cabinet price of $6,116.25***. This is a rough estimate of what it will cost to
purchase, assemble, and install your new kitchen cabinets.

Last, if you are looking for a unique custom cabinet design completely handmade from rough lumber,
we offer those services. Most custom cabinet shops build their cabinets but then order the facings
