AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE PUBLIC UTILITY JEEPNEYS
(PUJs), CARGO TRUCKS AND TRISIKADS IN THE DISTRICT OF
LAPUZ, ILOILO CITY

WHEREAS, more often than not, there have been complaints of over-lapping in the
area/jurisdiction where passengers are loaded and unloaded;
WHEREAS, there have also been complaints about the unregulated loading and
unloading of cargoes, reckless and over-speeding of cargo/delivery trucks passing through the
entire stretch of Rizal and Don Esteban Jalandoni Streets;
WHEREAS, the existence and operation oftrisikad in the District of Lapuz has not been
properly regulated by an ordinance thereby creating traffic disarray and congestion in the main
thoroughfares/junction and even alleys;
WHEREAS, on road parking is also prevalent in the major streets located in the District
of Lapuz;
WHEREAS, there is an urgent necessity to enact and establish regulations on public
utility vehicles, jeepneys and cargo trucks, on road parking and pedicabs in the District of Lapuz,
Iloilo City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of
Iloilo, that:
Section 1. - All "Bo. Obrero" Public Utility Jeepneys shall be prohibited from
LOADING passengers going to the direction of the City Proper starting from the comer of
Jalandoni and Abanilla Streets (Angel's Burger Stand) until the entrance and exit of Barangay
Punong across Our Lady of Fatima Parish. The LOADING shalll resume from Barangay
Progreso and onwards. However, said PUJ s shall be allowed to pick up passengers in the
opposite side or lane of the restricted area when going back to the direction of Bo. Obrero.

Section 1.1 - Violation of this provision shall be penalized by a fine of

Php 300.00 to be paid in the City Treasurer's Office of the City oflloilo.

Section 5. -The TMTRO is hereby mandated to assign at least two (2) traffic aides in the
District of Lapuz to ensure faithful compliance of this Ordinance.
Section 6. - All existing ordinances, executive orders, regulations or parts thereof in
conflict with any of the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, amended and revised.
Section 7. - If any provision of this ordinance is held invalid by a competent court, the
remained provisions shall not be affected thereby.
Section 89. -This ordinance shall take effect after ten (10) days publication.
