Suggested mounting positions

The balcony-like fitting showed in the upper and lower
figures allows easy electrical connections as well as the
control of proper power supply operation by the power
good led.
The vertical mounting, however, if done vertically on a
metallic surface, as showed in the central figure, is to be
preferred to get the goal of optimum thermal exchange.

WARRANTY AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

SECAP warrants the technical support to products bought

The power supply can be

mounted horizontally on a
DIN bar using the "DIN" kit.
Each accessory has to be
fixed to the rear side of the
power supply by means of
two screws connected in
two diagonally opposing
holes.
On the power supply use
one free hole and one of the
holes used for fixing the
cover, replacing the original
screw.

Parallel or redundant operation

directly or through an authorized representative

24 months warranty
SECAP warrants that this product is defect-free in materials and workmanship, for a period
of 24 months from the date of delivery to purchaser or bearer.
This warranty is comprehensive of all hardware with the exclusion of fuses.
During this period SECAP, at his option, will repair or replace defective products.
Restrictions
This warranty is void in the following cases:
1) the operating and installation conditions stated in the "OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS" haven't been respected.
2) the product failure has resulted from accident, abuse or misapplication.
Limitation of warranty
SECAP expressly disclaims all other warranties, including, but not limited to, the implied
warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
No SECAP dealer, agent or employee is authorized to make any modification, extension
or addition to this warranty.
Because some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of implied warranties or liability for
incidental, consequential or indirect damages, the above limitation may not always apply.

Description
1

General
For parallel operation of two or more
units use TB3-3 output in order to take
advantage of the internal decoupling
diode present in series to the output.
The use of this output gives the
possibility of:
- managing, indipendently for each unit,
the Power Good indications;
- avoiding the fault propagation from a
single unit to the system.
- obtaining a certain load sharing among
the various power supplies.
Mounting
The figure shows the suggested
mounting positions.
Connection
To have a better load sharing among the
various units it is suggested to connect
each power supply indipendently to the
load, or to the busbars, through cables of
the same type and having the same
length.
Calibration
The voltage drop of the internal diode is
not recovered by the control circuit, which
regulates the voltage on the anode of the
decoupling diode.
In order to compensate this voltage drop,
and in the meanwhile to obtain the best
load sharing, it is necessary to make a
calibration of the output voltage.
Follow this procedure.
- Operate on the single units ,
disconnected from the load, one at a
time.
- Load the unit with a current of nearly the
50% of its rating.
- Measure the voltage at its output
terminals by means of an instrument
having a precision better than the
required precision of the calibration.
- Adjust the output voltage to the desired value turning the frontal Vadj trimmer.
Use a properly insulated tool.
- Repeat this operation for each power supply, always using the same measuring
instrument and adjusting at the same voltage value.

Decoupling diode

A decoupling diode connected in series to the output is provided inside the power supply.
Both its anode (TB3-2) and its cathode (TB3-3) are available at output terminals.
The control circuit regulates the voltage on the anode, so the voltage drop of the diode (about 0.6V)
isn't recovered.
Use TB3-2 output in all the applications where a precise output voltage is requested.
Use TB3-3 output for parallel or redundant operation of two or more units, thus taking advantage of the
internal decoupling diode.

515SD, 528SD and 556SD models

These models are oriented for service with
12V, 24V or 48V lead-acid floating batteries.
In these models you can find a TB4
connector too.
Its connections are to be used only in
applications where a FC500K battery charger
is present and are intended for connection to
the TB3 connector present on FC500K.
See FC500K operating instructions for proper
connection between the power supply and the
battery charger.
