The Story of Life and Earth

In the documentary that I have watched, I have seen the birth of our
majestic earth and origin of life. From the formation of our solar system to
the life as we know it today, the earth has gone through drastic changes
throughout history. Weve seen earth transform from time to time. The earth
was once a fiery ball of molten rock, so hot, so toxic that life on earth is
virtually impossible. Then, there came a period call Snowball Earth where
vast quantities of ice entombs the earth. The earth was so cold that it even
reached -15 degrees Celsius. Even in this period, life cannot grow because
there was no heat to support life. But it cannot last forever, something must
happen. Then there it is, volcanoes beneath the earth surfaces through the
crust. These volcanoes emit and pump carbon dioxide into the air, creating a
blanket that traps the heat into the earths atmosphere. Finally, the earth is
free from the frozen prison. But still, there are no complex life forms because
the sun keeps bombarding ultraviolet rays into the atmosphere. Somehow,
the UV rays that interact with the earths atmosphere creates a new
chemical: ozone. Now its starting to look like the earth as we know it and life
begins to blossom. There is one important thing that I learned. And that is, as
the earth changes, life adapts to the change and creates new opportunities
for life to grow on, like how we adapt to our situations in life and as we
adapt, we discover, we learn, we grow.
I saw some concepts in our curriculum like there is one fundamental force
that makes the plates in our earth move, and that is heat. There was also
once a vast supercontinent that stretched from pole to pole, and that is
Pangaea. And because of the heat, the plates split to different parts which
makes our earth constantly changing, constantly moving, it also makes our
earth look alive. And also, when there is life, inevitably there is death, like
the Permian Extinction or The Great Dying. This is the biggest mass
extinction event that ever occurred it the entire history of earth, almost 95%
of all species and genus went extinct. But fortunately, this gave way for a
new species to grow. I also learned that the very first bacteria gave the
essential gas that we need and without it, life would not exist. And that is
oxygen. From the way I see it, I dont think that they have overlooked
anything important and documentary convincing because they have
elaborated many data that supports their story.
Ok, so at first, I was not that interested because the story was slow but it was
interesting in a way since I love science so much and I wanted to know how
the earth began and came to be. But as the longer I watched, the more
fascinated I became. The story starts to gain momentum and becomes more
alive. And with that in mind, Im starting to listen with all ears. So, in my
perspective, they have gone all-out on this documentary. Stunning visuals,
great reenactment, but the one who was commentating the documentary
has a sleepy voice so maybe thats the reason why I want to sleep during the
documentary. But with that being said, they put so much effort in this and
clearly it did not disappoint me. I give it a solid 9/10. Highly recommended.
