Course Objectives:
Attendee will be able to understand and explain the operation of the fuel delivery
system in the 2016 DIT Turbo Forester.
Attendee will be able to understand and explain the two fuel injection modes. (Stratified
and Homogeneous)
Through the use of the oscilloscope, the attendee will be able to see and understand the
starting, warmup, and operating temperature strategies through a live vehicle
demonstration.
Understand the operation of the ignition system so that an accurate diagnosis of ignition
failures can be made possible.
Attendee will understand how electrical failures in the fuel injection system affect
vehicle performance by analyzing scan tool data and trouble code outputs.
Attendees will be advised of basic service precautions so that repairs are performed in a
safe and professional manner that meets OE repair standards.
If time permits, using the rear O2 sensor to determine if engine misfire is caused by Fuel
injector or Ignition related components.
Course Description: This presentation will be an instructor led presentation consisting of 60%
lecture and 40% lab time. This presentation will provide technical and diagnostic information to
give participants a well-rounded overview of our Direct Injected Turbocharged engines. (DIT) In
the lab we cover starting, warm-up and operating temperature running characteristics of the
DIT. We will also induce electrical faults in to the DIT to see what type of fail-safe results we
would expect to see. If time permits, we will also look at the possibility of using the rear O2
sensor as an aid to engine misfire analysis. We will be using the Subaru Diagnostic System (SDS)
and the Picoscope computer based oscilloscope in the lab to show how the DIT system
operates.
Presentation is approximately 60 percent lecture and 40 percent lab.

the advancement of suspension systems that made on-car brake lathes a necessity,
the myth of warped rotors, and
the negative effects of stacked tolerances, lateral run-out, and disc thickness variation.
There will also be in-class demonstrations, including rotor match machining, and lab exercises
utilizing vehicles.

Course Description: This seminar will primarily be an instructor lead lecture with time allowed
for interaction/discussion. If time and space are available some minor test board and on car
activities can be used to reinforce the topics covered.
The seminar will begin with an overview of Hondas training methodology for both cognitive
and skills training. The participants will also be introduced to Online University, Hondas
training website which is accessible to dealer technicians 24/7.
After gaining an understanding of Hondas training methodology the participants will then
review three skills modules which incorporate the use of the ATECH Specialized Electronic
Training Board. The first module is a board only activity which introduces and reinforces the
three basic voltage rules. The second module is an intermediate level which covers the usage
of voltage drop to evaluate circuit operation and condition. This module includes both board
activities and live vehicle measurements. The third and final module is an advanced level
module which begins with building and analyzing relay controlled circuits on the board,
followed up by diagnosing a circuit fault on a live vehicle.
If time allows, an overview of Hondas online Electrical Wiring Diagrams will be given.
Skill Level: This course should appeal to all skill levels, providing benefit to the instructor
looking for some insight in how to provide electrical training from the basic to diagnostic levels.

Course Objectives:
This class will develop the technicians skill for testing Engine Performance with a Scan Tool
using DataStream. The class will focus on Volumetric Efficiency using the calculator and
DataStream to determine the cause of the drivability complaint. When the test results and the
repair information point the technician to test a component they will be better equipped to
perform those test effectively. The course will improve the technicians diagnostic
efficiency. This class room and hands-on shop training with Dyno to simulate the VE road test.
