Officers were dispatched to 600 Mary Street (Deaconess Hospital) in regards to a

battery report. The RP, Morgan Gray, advised her father, Marty Hale, was the
victim of an assault last week. He had been in the hospital since last week Friday,
9/16/2016. Hale had been in and out of consciousness since the assault occurred.
Tonight, he woke up and told Gray that OF #1 and OF #2 were involved in
assaulting him.
I attempted to speak with Hale in regards to the assault that occurred. He said it
had happened near OF #1`s home. Gray said Hale was located at approximately
11:30pm-12:00am unconscious on the street near the intersection of Maryland
Street/Edgar Street. Hale said he went to OF #1`s home with OF #2 and they took
a Xanax. OF #3 and OF #4 were also at the residence. At some point, OF #3 and
OF #4 became jealous of Hale because they wanted OF #2. An argument ensued
and Hale walked outside and got into his van.
OF #3 and OF #4 began to tap on Hale`s van with a metal pole. Hale locked
himself inside the van and talked to all of the offenders. The situation calmed
down and Hale decided to get out of the van. When Hale got out of the van he was
struck by the metal pole. He could not recall anything after getting struck by the
pole. He did not know which one of the offenders had struck him but believed he
may have been "set up" by all of the parties involved.
Hale did not know OF #3 or OF #4 but said one of them had a girlfriend that lived
across the street from OF #1 in a yellow house.
I contacted Sergeant P. McDonald in regards to the report due to the nature of the
offense. Sergeant P. McDonald instructed me to complete the battery report and a
detective would follow up at a later date.
