MOVING
According to the Census Bureau, about one in eight Americans
move each year. The typical American will relocate about a dozen
times in a life. However, according to the Upshot Blog at The New
York Times, invariably many move close to Mom. Get these stats:
40% will eventually move within five miles, 50% within 18 miles,
75% within 222 miles, 85% within 615 miles, and 95% within
1,418 miles of mother. Janet and | are very blessed that our
children and grandchildren live so close to us. However, my wife
and | never lived close to our parents because of the will of God and
the call of various churches.
While it is important to maintain parental ties, it is eternally
important to find God's will for the right Church Family. Many
American Christians tend to “church hop,’ indicating not only our
love for options, but often our instability and lack of loyalty. All
need a Spiritblessed, Christ-honoring, Bible-teaching, and
world-impacting church. Of course, such a move should be
purposeful and not just for a change of scenery. Finding God's will
is not the approach of the country song that sings, “Heads
California, tails Carolina.”
Since the Lord wants to “teach you in the way in which you should
go" (Psalm 32:8), making a move to the right church will make a
difference in your family, ministry, and future. | thank God that our
daughter, Kristin, though she was only 12, chose to understand our
call to Naples and sought to become better rather than bitter in
leaving her solid youth group in Texas and coming toa church that
had seemingly little to offer a teenager. She chose to be a leader
and a catalyst for change.
Our Discovery Dinner will help you to find God's will concerning
Moving to First Baptist Church, if you have not already made that
decision. Among other things, | look forward to sharing our vision,
beliefs, and philosophy with those who attend. Notall churches are
the same, but we truly believe that God's hand is on this place. Of
course, what is most important is moving as close as possible to the
Heavenly Father.

FIRST BAPTIST ACADEMY
Middle School is offto an amazing start. We are very excited about our new theme this year, “Thy
Word, My Word." This is based on Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God proves true; He is a shield
to those who take refuge in Him.’ Many excellent educational events are happening at our
Middle School. Mrs. Tyree is preparing for Math Olympics; Mrs. Pigg is gearing up for ACSI
Spelling Bee; and 7th grade is getting ready to experience Sea Camp in Key Largo, Florida.
