Preface

his document describes the minimum steps needed to create simple Automated
Cycle Count Task in Oracles Warehouse Management (WMS) application. In
Oracles E-Business Suite Release 12 you can initiate a cycle count task during
picking. The cycle count task can be initiated during a partial pick or if no quantity
is selected. It will provide a complete walkthrough, beginning with the prerequisite setups, completing the transaction using Oracles Mobile Client
application and the approval of the Cycle Count adjustments.
This document will not cover all the setups for Warehouse Management, Inventory
or Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Application. It is also assume that the user of this
document have a minimum understanding of the Oracle applications login,
navigation and assigned responsibilities. This document is not meant to replace
actual user training but to provide simple guidance for creating the automated task.

How The Manual Is Organized


This manual is divided in 3 sections:
Pre-requisite Setups
Mobile Client Transaction
Cycle Count Approvals
Pre-requisite Setups
On this section we will cover the setups needed to create an automated cycle count
task in WMS. We will review ABC Compiles, Classes and the creation of a Cycle
Count. Review and create the Transaction Reasons needed to support the task
creation and will update the organization parameters with the default cycle count.
Mobile Client Transactions
On this section we will cover the actual transaction navigation to pick short and
generate a cycle count task. Review the cycle count task and complete the task
using Mobile Client.
Cycle Count Adjustment Approval
On this section we will cover the review and approval of the cycle count
adjustment items.

Audience
This manual is written as a quick how-to for functional users. A clear
understanding of the applications is needed in order to understand and complete all
the sections noted above.

Setup
1. Create WMS Cycle Count Task
Application: Warehouse Management
Responsibility: Warehouse Manager
Navigation: Setup>Warehouse Configuration>Tasks>Standard Task Types

i.

Create a task code and description that you want to use for your cycle
count.

ii.

Assign the task code to the seeded Cycle Count task type and accept all
the default setting.

iii.

Assign the cycle count task code to the warehouse resource.

2. Create Transaction Reasons


Application: Warehouse Management
Responsibility: Warehouse Manager
Navigation: Setup>Transaction Setup>Inventory Transactions>Transaction Reasons

i.

Create the transaction reasons and select the Workflow, Reason Type and
Reason Context.

ii.

At a minimum create a transaction to Pick None, Pick Short and


Curtail Picking.

3. Create ABC Classes


Application: Warehouse Management
Responsibility: Warehouse Manager
Navigation: Inventory Management>ABC Analysis>ABC Classes

i.

Create a single Class Name. Only one class is needed since all items will be
assigned to this class.

4. Create ABC Compile


Application: Warehouse Management

Create ABC Compile. (Note that the same name (DISCREPANCY


COUNT) is being used throughout all the steps to facilitate the
identification.)

Select Organization for Content and Valuation Scope.
iv.

Use the Criterion Current on hand value. By using this criterion it will
allow us to select all items.

5. Create ABC Group


Application: Warehouse Management
Responsibility: Warehouse Manager
Navigation: Inventory Management>ABC Analysis>ABC Assignment Groups

i.

Create a Group Name and select the Compile Name.

ii.

Assign the ABC Class to the group name.

6. Create Cycle Count


Application: Warehouse Management
Responsibility: Warehouse Manager
Navigation: Setup>Warehouse Configuration>Tasks>Standard Task Types

i.

Create Cycle Count to be used as the Default Cycle Count

ii.

Follow Oracles Inventory Users Guide to create a cycle count.

iii.

Assign the ABC Class created previously

iv.

Assign items to the Cycle Count.

Topical Essay
On this section we will cover the actual transaction navigation to pick short and
generate a cycle count task. Please note that you can also generate a cycle count
task by selecting the Pick None (Auto CCNT) transaction reasons shown in
Section 1, Step 2.
Please note that this section will start with the Mobile Client transaction. It is
assume that picking transactions were created and assigned to the warehouse
personnel. Transactions will be covered as follows:

1. Navigate to picking transaction, pick short and generate cycle


count task.
2. Review Cycle Count Task generated in the Warehouse Control
Board.
3. Complete Cycle Count Task in Mobile Client.

Steps
1. Navigate to picking transaction, pick short and generate cycle count task.
Application: Mobile Supply Chain
Responsibility: Whse Mgmt (Mobile Client)
Navigation: Task>Directed Task>Manufacturing>Discrete Picking

i.

Confirm the Subinventory, Location and Item. Press the Tab key when
you reach the bottom of the page.

Confirm the Lot.

iii.

Before confirming the quantity, press the Exception button.

iv.

Select the Pick Short reason.

v.

Confirm your Pick Short Quantity and press Done.

Hit the Ctrl Key and the letter G to generate an LPN.

vii.

Select the Pick More button.

viii.

On this form dont confirm anything just select the Exception button.

Select the Finished Pick Short (Auto CCNT) to create a cycle count
task.

Pick short task is completed. You can now logout of Mobile Client.

2. Review Cycle Count Task in Warehouse Control Board

Navigation: Inquiry>Warehouse Control Board

Navigate to the Warehouse Control Board.

iv.

Check Manufacturing source, and Pending status.

Review and assign task to warehouse personnel.

3. Complete Cycle Count task in Mobile Client

Navigation: Task>Directed Task>Warehousing>Counting

Confirm task assignment.

Entered count quantity and lot quantity. Hit the tab key.

Click on the Save/Next Item button. If the count has multiple lines, it
will bring the next count task.

Navigate to the Approve Counts Forms.

ii.

Select Cycle Count from the List of Values and click the Find button.

Query only counts pending approval.

iv.

Review the adjustments and any other information on the count.

Click on the Approval tab and check the Approved button.

Save your work.

vii.

The inventory adjustments are completed immediately after saving.
