Today im going to focus

about the problem of Baby Dumping. In my presentation today Ill be discussing about
the definition, causes, effects, and prevention of baby dumping. For your information,I
have prepared some questions for all of you and also Id be glad to answer any questions
from all of you at the end of my presentation.
First of all, I will explain the definition of Baby Dumping. Baby dumping refers to
parents abandoning or discarding a child younger than 12 months in a public or
private place with the intent of disposing of them.
Malaysia is grappling with the rising cases of abandoned babies, "forcing" the Malaysian
police to investigate baby-dumping cases under the Malaysian Penal Code for murder or
attempt murder. The Malaysian public blame premarital sex on the over-exposure to
sexually-liberal western culture, while the Malaysian government considers including
sex education in school syllabus.
Next, we move on to the causes of Baby Dumping. Firstly, poverty is often a root cause
of child abandonment. People in cultures with poor social welfare systems who are not
financially capable of taking care of a child are more likely to abandon them. When
unwanted babies are borned, without think, they dump the babies anywhere without
mercy.
Secondly, rape also another factor that causes baby dumping. In some cases it happen
among the family descent or it may happen molestation force by others as nowadays we
read in the front of news.The person who we trust more will betray us in disgraceful
manner.The victim are not willing to do that so,consequently causing them not to
welcome the baby in their pregnancy.
Next, peer influence also leads to cases of baby dumping occurred. This is because at a
young age, teens are very easily influenced by their peers. This problem becomes worse
when they associate with negative peers. Many teens who fall into promiscuity, and
eventually reach a dead end to find her self with unwanted pregnancy. In desperation,
they have to discard their babies.
Moreover, teenagers are lack of sex education. Most of the parents failed to inject the
knowledge of sex into the mind of their children when their children were small.
Parents are less giving a clear view about sex and always claim that their children are
too small to know about sex. Most of the schools are facing the same problems. They do
not have sex education as a compulsory teaching subject in school.
Now we come to the effects of Baby Dumping. First of all the effect to the mother. As
we know, woman may have the risk of death due to the bleeding during the childs birth,
especially in case of teenage parents, they could give birth in a motel room and leave
the child to death in a dumpster. They might be expelled from schools or educational
institutions eventually. For the mental case, obviously they would feel guilty, and not
forget to mention the pressure from family, friends, and the surrounding.
Secondly, this is about damage on the infants. The babies would face a few growing up

issues,from lack of immunity as the baby was not breast-fed to the mentally problem
like feeling unwanted and depressed. They would have a problem to build a relationship
with people as their tragic life experience.
Lastly, the most important part is the effects on society. As we know, the act of
abortions would be mimicked by society. Most cases of baby dumping in Malaysia are
disposing the newborn baby into the trash and leave them to the death. This shows the
bad side of the people's humanity. It has become wide and brings the negative views
from society.
There are some steps to prevent this problem in order to avoid baby dumping cases in
our society. Sexuality education is one of the step to prevent baby dumping scenario in
this society.We should educate the individual person especially adolescence about the
sexuality scope and misuse in the sexuality activities. So,the society will have the
awareness on the baby dumping that cause by lack of sexual education.
Other than that,the intervention of people surround is important to help those kind of
people before they already too far to find the turning back. Mostly, the cases related
to baby dumping is begin from lack of moral support from relative and family members.
Teenagers are sometime tending to take a fastest way without a reasonable solution to
their problem. To bring an intact community, everyone in the community must take the
plausible action.
Finally, the government also must involve overcoming this problem from step by step
and taking this matter seriously. Baby hatch is indeed good way to help single mother
who cannot afford to take care the baby and nowadays 'Sekolah Harapan' and Kewaja
has already been opened for person who involved unwanted pregnancy. This is one of
the matter that are very serious nowadays in this world and government must take a
strict action to overcome this kind of problems.
In conclusion, baby dumping brings a lot of negative effects to the society. In other
words, teenagers are the country hopes by who they would be the leaders of tomorrow,
therefore, please save the life. That brings me to the end of my presentation.
