Set up field as shown on image one. 40X30 with 4 10X30 zones. The balls should be distributed by
coach if they go out of play to opposite team.
Activity
The four red try to maintain possession and feed the ball to the two targets across from them. As
the ball moves the blue four shift defensively denying penetration. If the blue win the ball they do
the same and look to find the 2 blue targets and now the red 4 work together to deny a
penetrating pass to the blue targets.
Coaching Points
Ball oriented zonal defense, based on where the ball is it will dictate what we cut out. Do not get
split
1st defender limit the attacker's passing options. Cut out what is most dangerous.
2nd defender supporting angles based on positioning of 1st defender
5v5+2
3rd defender balance track targets.
Pick up the yellow cones using the red line of cones as the mid way point of the field.
Activity
The team in possession can score by passing the ball into the pugg goals that will equal one point.
They can also score by dribbling through the red gate that is worth two points cannot pass
through red gate for points. The targets for each team must stay in the attacking zone and the
neutrals are free to enter either zone. Back line of 4 must stay in their defensive zone but can go
into the attacking zone when their team is in possession of the ball.
Balls will be distributed by coach after the ball is played out or a point is scored.

As the game happens Coach needs to look for coachable moments

2nd defender- Are we supporting from proper angels based on the location of the ball and
pressuring angle of the 1st defender?

Zonal defending based on the positing of the ball. Force attacking team to play back or square.
