COURSE SYNOPSIS
This course is designed for undergraduate students to understand
some basic knowledge on animal pests. The students would be
introduced to pest concept, and the importance of animal pests
in relation to human in terms of economic, social, medical, and
environmental interests. The students would also be introduced
to the biology, and the damages caused by animal pests;
conditions under which they become pests and magnitude of
loss due to pests.

COURSE SYNOPSIS
Different methods of controls namely cultural, chemical,
biological, mechanical, use of resistant varieties, and
legislature would also be discussed, and an integrated pest
management (IPM) approach would be highlighted.
A brief description of different forms of pesticides and their
methods of application would also be discussed.
This course would also introduce the students to some
common and important animal pests of agriculture and
forestry, and vectors of medical importance in Malaysia.
