Preparation
Have the question What is a blog and what are they used for written on the board
Have 4 large A3 pieces of paper ready with the topic for a blog, as the title examples
are sport, fashion, lifestyle and food.
On the back of these pieces of paper have a skeleton for the students to create their
own blog with the set out as title, topic, target audience and purpose.
Have a few of these questions written on the other side of the board ready for
students to answer.
Who is the target audience for this blog?
What content would you blog about?
Where would you find the material to add to your type of blog?
When would this blog be relevant to people, when would they need to use it?
(Example finding a decent place to eat?)
Why would you make a blog like this?
Why would people use or follow your blog

 How would you go about setting up a blog like this?

Have a bag of textures for students to write in different colours.

4 pieces of A3 paper to write questions and topics on
Markers or textures for the students to write
White board to write on

Learning Experiences:
1. Introduction: (How will I engage the learners?)

Begin by asking them the questions written up on the board (what is a

blog and what are they used for?) To facilitate a class discussion.
During class discussing make sure to ask the students questions to
expand on what their idea of a blog is.
Questions like
Do you think a blog might be used to spread awareness, and if so what
kind?
What age group do you think blogs the most?
What types of blogs do you think would be relevant to you?
Do you think blogs cater specific audience or age group
Make sure to have students elaborate on their answers asking them
further questions like, why do you think this or how did you come to this
conclusion?

2. Sequence of learning experiences: (What will you do to help the

students achieve the learning objectives? What tasks and activities will
the students be involved in to help achieve the learning objectives?)

After discussion split the students into 4 groups, giving them a topic each
to focus on, those topics being Fashion, Sport, Food and Lifestyle.
Than tell them to answer the questions on the board and brainstorm
things that relate to that topic.
These questions being
Who is the target audience for this blog?
What content would you blog about?
Where would you find the material to add to your type of blog?
When would this blog be relevant to people, when would they need to use
it? (Example finding a decent place to eat?)
Why would you make a blog like this?
Why would people use or follow your blog
How would you go about setting up a blog like this?
Ask students to generate there own questions 5 whats 1 how
Who, what, when, where, why, how

Then have them brainstorm any other ideas that relate to this blog

Once they have done this, have them swap the pieces of paper around
answering the same questions for different topics until they do a full
rotation.

Each group will spend 5 minutes on each topic.

Then at the end of the rotation they are going to turn the sheets of paper
over and create their own blog coming up with
A topic to blog about
A Title for their blog
A target audience
And a purpose for their blog (what they hope to achieve or what message
they want to send to their target audience)

Each group will have a max of 10 minutes to prepare these blogs.

After they have written these down they will then present their blogs to us
telling us the title for their blog and describing the topic they are blogging
about, their target audience, and the purpose of their blog.

4. Lesson conclusion: (How will you summaries the learning and relate it
to the lesson objectives?)

After students have finished their presentations move on to the next

activity,
Express to the students that in their previous assignment their poems
were so diverse and different in topic and how they can use the same
inspiration and the same techniques that they used to create their poems
to create a different types of blogs.

Have students then spend 10 minutes drawing up a draft blog of their

own.

Then have them move on to the question generator for the end of the
class and have them pick a colour to generate a question to which the
whole class must answer before leaving by writing their answer down on a
sticky note, which they must then stick on a door before leaving the
classroom.
