TYPE O

-main underlying idea of inspiration directing or


guiding someone
-guidance in natural intuition (28:7)-mother of
Mosses
-guidance in natural instinct (16:68)-

And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees,
and in (men's) habitations

-guidance by signs (19:11)

So Zakariya came out to his people from his chamber: He told


them by signs to celebrate Allah.s praises in the morning and in
the evening.

-guidance from God (8:12)-Lord inspired the Angels


MEANS OF REVELATION
-special form of guidance from God for His creation,
brought by the Prophets, who received the word
from God
-inspiration (37:102), Ibrahim received guidance in a
vision while asleep to sacrifice his son
-speech hidden away (27:8) related that God spoke
to Musa from the fire
-words (speech) sent through a special messenger
from God (2:97), God sent Gabriel as the messenger
to Muhammad to receive His message
THE ORIGIN OF THE QURAN
-from the lauh al mahfuz to the lowest of the
heavens of the world, all together, in the Laila alqadr
-from the heaven to earth, on stages 23 years of
Muhammads Prophethood, fist in the Laila al-qadr
of Ramadan through Angel Gabriel (refer to : Sura
al-Isra verse 17 and Sura al-Furqan verse 25)
REASON AL-QURAN WAS SENT DOWN
THROUGH STAGES
to strengthen the heart of Prophet
Muhammad whenever he need its guidance
arose

out of consideration-the first one was


shocking to him

to gradually implement the law of Allah

TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE
Al-Wahbi (revealed) gifted
-inspiration knowledge that comes from Allah
which is given to the messenger as a
guidance to the human being
-without process of learning
-knowledge that sis develop by human being
based on revelation
Al-Akshabai (non-revealed)
-knowledge which is developed based on
human reasoning
-natural science
SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE
i. Revelation
ii. Dreams
-dreams that comes true ,something
happened after our dream
iii. Inspiration
-major , instinct, knowledge that we
get from nature without learning
iv. Observation (reading and nature)
-natural phenomena, human
phenomena

TYPE AND FORM OF REVELATION
Al-Quran
-the speech of Allah sent down upon the last
Prophet Muhammad through the angel
Gabriel in its precise meaning and precise
wording, transmitted to us by numerous
person (tawatur) both verbally in writing-inimitable and unique, protected by God
form corruption
-Furqan, Tanzil, Dhikr,Kitab
-other references to the Quran is nur (light),
hudan(guidance), rahma(mercy),
majid(glorious), mubarak(blessing) and etc.
Hadith
-narration, news, reports about the sunna
of the Prophet Muhammad on what he
said (Qaul), What he did (Fiil), What he
silently approved(Iqrar) in others action,
what he like (Sifa)
-difference between Quran and Hadith
1.the words of action from human being,
not the speech of God like Quran
2. not necessarily reported in the precise
wording as the Quran
3.not necessarily transmitted by tawatur
(a numerous person)

4. not protected against corruption by


Allah

Hadith Qudsi
-Qudsi means holy, pure
-reports from the Prophet Muhammad where
he relates to the people what God has said or
did, but this information is not part of the
Quran
-example : Abu Hurairah reported that Allahs
messenger said
Allah, Mighty and Exalted is He, said: If my
servants like to meets me, I like to meet him,
and if he dislikes to meet him, I dislike to
meet him
-both Quran and Hadith Qudsi contain words
from Allah which have been revealed to
Muhammad
-the differences:
1. Quran the precise wording from Allah, HQ
wording is given by Prophet Muhammad
2. Quran brought to Muhammad by JIbril, HQ
may have been inspired such as dream
3. Quran transmitted tawatur, HQ only by few
individual
CHARACTERISTIC OF KNOWLEDDGE IN
ISLAM
KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH
Al-Yakin-must be sure/firm ,no doubt
-ilmu yaqin(having known it from reading),
Ainuyyaqin (we have observed it), Haq yaqin
(experience it by yourself)
Azzon-knowing something but have a
slightly doubt so that not very sure
-it can be prove by empirical (sense) or nonempirical(revelation through Prophet), there
must be a reason to believe it
Assyak-doubt and certainty-50%-50%
Al-Wahmun-certain idea but no basis and
no idea about the things, no proof for that
IT IS HOLISTIC AND INTEGRAL IN NATURE
-combine together natural sciences and
religion
-integrates knowledge and actions
-integrates knowledge and spirituality
-Integrates knowledge and ethics
-integrates knowledge and wisdom
THE ORIGIN OF ANY KNOWLEDGE IS FROM
ALLAH SWT
-take from word Al-Alim
-He knows everything-the Unseen, in details
ITS EXISTENCE ON THE ELEMENT OF TRUTH
(AL-HAQQ) AND AL-YAQQIN
IT IS UNLIMITED IN NATURE

-realize the limitation of his knowledge and


always learn and evaluate his knowledge
-he should not be proud of his knowledge

DEFINITIVE KNOWLEDGE (QATI) &


SPECULATIVE KNOWLEDGE (ZANNI)

DEFINITIVE
-has clear/ specific meaning
-we can understand immediately
-it has only one meaning
(Al Nur , 24:4)

SPECTATIVE ( AYAT MUTASHABIHAT)


-uncertain or resembling the another
-confusion, not really specific,
-There is need of tafsir to explain
-best way to explain is through another ayat,
awl, with hadith
-example :
at the opening of ayat
Ya Sin (Ya Sin, 36:1)
ayat related to the self of ALLAH
( al-Fath, 48:10)
