DISMANTLING JOINTS

The Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint is

a flanged restrained joint fitting that

allows longitudinal adjustment in flanged pipe systems. It has been developed to provide greater flexibility at both the planning and installation stages of flanged pipework systems and for subsequent maintenance.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

The Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint is

particularly suitable for simplifying the installation and removal of:

• All types of valves

• Skid mounted piping systems

• Flow metering equipment

• Pump equipment

• Flanged pipe and fittings

Typical Dismantling Joint applications include: pumping stations, water treatment works, sewage treatment works, plant rooms, meter chambers, power generation equipment and gas distribution stations.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Longitudinal adjustment

Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints are capable of accommodating up to 2" longitudinal adjustment dependent on diameter (see table on opposite page). This adjustability is provided by the telescopic action of the flanged spigot within the flange adapter. Once the required length is achieved, the Dismantling Joint can be locked at that length with the tie bars supplied. Longitudinal adjustment of this magnitude allows for fast and simple maintenance of valves, pumps etc. and simplifies future pipework modifications, often resulting in reduced down time and eliminating the need for more complex restrained joint systems.

Compact design

Unlike its competitors, the Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint is a compact design which eliminates the need for long harness assemblies when space is at a premium. The Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint also allows the use of smaller valve vaults, concrete pump pads, and equipment rooms, which can result in big savings.

Ease of installation

Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints can be installed with basic tools and a torque wrench; no special tools are required.

tools and a torque wrench; no special tools are required. Speed of installation Viking Johnson Dismantling

Speed of installation

Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints are supplied with high tensile steel tie bars that comply with ASTM A193:Grade B7. Because of the high quality of tie bar material, fewer tie bars are required making installation faster and simpler. The tie bars supplied with the Dismantling Joint also act as the flanged jointing bolts reducing the number of flange bolts required. Flange connection bolts not supplied as standard.

Sealing

Unlike other styles of Dismantling Joint, the gasket of the Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint is compressed independently of the tie bars. Compression of the gasket is achieved by following standard flange adapter installation procedures, speeding installation. It also allows for a socket and torque wrench to be used, ensuring that sealing failure cannot occur as the gasket is compressed to the required torque.

Range

The Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint can be supplied in sizes from 1 1 /2" (40mm) through 108" (2700mm) and in most common flange drillings. Custom Dismantling Joints for specific projects can also be produced.

Corrosion and protection

The flange adapter and flange spigot parts of the Dismantling Joint are coated in Rilsan Nylon 11, complying with NSF 61 and AWWA C550. This gives the

100mm/4" Dismantling Joint in plant room application.

Viking Johnson Dismantling Joint coating the highest levels of adhesion, flexibility, penetration and impact resistance characteristics, ensuring that Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints are well equipped to withstand transport, storage, site and corrosion damage. Alternative finishes are also available. All tie bars are Zinc plated as standard, Stainless Steel available to special order.

Working pressure

All Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints are fully end load resistant and have a pressure rating equal to that of the flange.

Full-face flange

For applications where a full-face flange is required, such as wafer valves, the flange of the spigot piece provides a full flange sealing area.

Gaskets

Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints come standard with an EPDM Grade E gasket. For other gasket material please contact your local representative.

Product quality

Viking Johnson Dismantling Joints are designed and manufactured under the quality management system ISO 9001 and tested in accordance with the requirements of AWWA Standard C-219 for bolted couplings. As with all Viking Johnson products, Dismantling Joints are designed to outlast the pipes on which they are fitted.
