WRITE BRIEF ESSAY ABOUT:

1)Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB)
The Construction Industry Development Board frequently known as CIDB is a
controlled or determined by a law or statutes body established under the CIDB Act of
2008. The dominant objective of the CIDB is to elevate and raise the development and
enhancement of the construction industry in Malaysia.
CIDB operates under the security of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and
Land Transport . It is governed by a Council comprising 11 members involve
a Chairperson.
One of the main operation of the CIDB is the enrollment of Contractors and
Consultants. The act makes qualification for the registration of both local & foreign
Contractors and Consultants. This is supported by allowing regulations which
provide further information about the legislation of the registration exercise.
CIDB goal at providing leadership and counsel towards the evolution of a
competitive and world class construction industry. To accredit and matters relating
enrollment of contractors in construction industry.

Vision of CIDB is a Mauritian construction industry with a marked beneficence

to economic growth and maintainable development and which effect to an
international standard. While CIDB mission is to put all our efforts together towards
the progression and advancement of a competitive and productive construction
industry.

2)Contractor Service Centre (PKK)

Implementation and Coordination Unit. In January 1987, it was known as Pusat
Khidmat Kontraktor in line with its functions and authority. In 27 October 1990, PKK
was moved to The Ministry of Public Entrepreneur, next in year 1995, PKK
became part of the Ministry of Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development. The
main roleof PKK was to help solve the problems faced by the Bumiputra contractors.
The main objective of the centre is to provide the environment to improve and
inspire the evolution of quality, competitive and flexible entrepreneurs in all sectors as
well

as

the

endue

the

entrepreneurial

and

cooperative

culture

among

Malaysians.Problems often faced by contractors include :

Problems originating from management weaknesses by Bumiputera contractors:

1. Technical weakness
2. Financial management problem

3. Building material problem

External Problems from management debilitation by Bumiputera contractors:
1. Building material supply problem
2. Problem with Government Agency/Department
3. Problem in getting employee
4. Problem with local peopl
Function of Contractor Service Centre (PKK):
1)Ensure the registered contractors are of quality contractors and can be trusted.
2)Improve the ability and current skills of Bumiputera contractors.
3)Improve the existing registration system in line with current needs based on current
time.
4)Ensure that Bumiputera contractors were actively involved in every projects
implemented.
In order to have a tender and undertake government projects, company are
required by the Ministry of Finance and Public Works Department to register with
Contractor Service Centre (PKK)
