for development of 2G Ethanol

NewDelhi,14Sept2016:IndianOilCorporationLimited(IndianOil),Indiasflagshipnationaloilcompany,has
selectedPraj,aPunebasedglobalprocesssolutionsleader,asitstechnologypartnerforsettingupmultiple
2ndGeneration(2G)bioethanolplantsbasedonindigenouslydevelopedtechnology.IndianOilwillbesetting
upthreesuch2Gbioethanolplants.
Indian Oil,likeother Oil MarketingCPSEsareblending biofuelsintransportationfuelsatthedepottobring
downdependencyoncrudeoilimportsandtoavailoftheresultanteconomicandenvironmentalbenefits.In
order to enhance ethanol availability in the country for blending with petrol, IndianOil is developing 2G
ethanolproductioninfrastructureusinglignocellulosicbiomassesasfeedstock.

Speakingaboutthecollaboration,Mr.PramodChaudhari,ExecutiveChairman,PrajIndustriesLtd.,said,Itisa
greathonourforustobechosenbyIndianOiltobecometheirtechnologypartnerinmultiple2Gbioethanol
projectsinIndia.Wehavepreparedourselvestoexecute2GethanolprojectsoverRs.3000croreintwothree
years.

refineryiscapableofproducingbioethanolandothercoproductssuchasbioCNG,powerandavarietyof
biochemicals.
AttheWorldBiofuelsDayconferenceheldatNewDelhirecently,theGovernmentofIndiahadannounced
that a biomassbased biofuels policy is in the offing to give boost to the agroeconomy and to promote
clean,renewableenergy.Thisendeavourwillbeasocioeconomicandenvironmentalenablerasthefarming
communitywillgenerateadditionalrevenuesfromagriwaste,whichwillbeutilisedtoproducebioethanol.
PrajisalsoprovidingassistancetoIndianOilforachievingvariousmilestonestowardsholisticdevelopmentof
theseProjectsatvarioussuitablelocationsacrosstheCountry.
Such2GEthanolPlantsarebasedonindigenoustechnologyanddesignsdevelopedbyPrajattheirR&DCenter
