Falls Ride
WELCOME
Falls Ride is the public transportation system for the City of Wichita Falls. Buses
travel along seven routes which are distributed geo-graphically across the City.
Transfer hubs are located at Sikes Senter Mall and at 4th and Scott, near MPEC.
Service is provided Monday through Saturday. The times for weekdays and weekends are listed on the individual route schedules, located in this booklet.
Falls Ride offers a safe, reliable, and affordable transportation alternative for the
citizens of Wichita Falls. It is our goal to provide this service in a courteous, and
professional manner.
Falls Ride is operated by the City of Wichita Falls, and we welcome your suggestions and comments about our transit system. Please call us at 761-7433 if we can

HOW TO RIDE
Buses pick up passengers only at designated stops that can be identified by bus
stop signs. Arrive at your pick up point at least 5 minutes before the scheduled
departure time. Signal the driver by waving your arm.
When the bus approaches, look at the route color and name located above the
windshield to make sure you are boarding the correct bus. If youre not sure, ask
the driver. Have your fare or pass ready to deposit. When the bus comes to a complete stop, wait for passengers to exit before boarding. Place your money into the
fare box or hand your pass/transfer to the driver for verification before taking a
seat. Drivers are not allowed to handle fares or make change.
Ask the driver for a transfer if your trip requires you to ride a second bus. The transfer is good for one hour from the time it is issued. Give the transfer to the driver
of the second bus you board. When the bus is approximately one block away from
your stop, push the signal strip located beside the window, or verbally inform the
driver. Remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop and then exit through
the door.
Be sure you have all your belongings with you. It is recommended you wait on the
curb until the bus has pulled away before attempting to cross the street. Never
cross in front of or behind a standing bus.

RIDING RULES
Courtesy Please
For your safety, convenience, and comfort, please remember these rules
when riding the bus:
Passengers must have exact change. Driver cannot make change.

No eating, drinking or tobacco use on bus.
Drink containers must have screw on tops.
Do not play radios or musical instruments.
Shoes and shirt are required.
Do not stand forward of the yellow line.
Animals must be crated, except for guide animals.
Children under 5 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Firearms or weapons are not allowed on bus.
Explosive materials are not allowed on bus.
No loud, foul or abusive language allowed.
Carry on bags are limited to the number that can be carried on
passengers lap.
Remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
Aisles must be kept clear of passengers belongings.
Disruptive personal hygiene can result in a denial of service
Strollers must be folded prior to passenger entering the bus and remain
folded while on bus
Non-compliance of the preceding rules may result in the passenger not being
allowed to ride the bus.

Falls Ride
SERVICES
Falls Ride operates a route deviation system available to qualifying disabled passengers who because of their disability, may not be able to get
to a regular route bus stop. Under this system, buses will deviate for a
distance of up to mile from the regular route to pick-up or drop-off
qualifying passengers. This is a curb to curb service.
Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Service is available Monday through Friday from 5:00am till 7:30pm, and Saturday from 10:00am
till 5:30pm.

THE GROCERY CART

Falls Ride offers a subscription service to individuals 60 years of age and
older or those with certified disabilities, that allows the passenger to be
picked up at their residence and dropped off at a grocery store, to buy
groceries. The bus waits until all passengers have had time to make their
purchases, and then loads everyone up for the return trip to their residences.
This service is offered on a first come first serve basis, and reservations
must be made in advance for the day the passenger wishes to travel. The
cost of this service is $2.00 for the round trip. The trips are scheduled for
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
of each week, and the bus begins
picking up passengers at 9:00am.

LOST AND FOUND

Always check your seat before leaving the bus. Falls Ride is NOT responsible
for lost articles. However, if you lose something on the bus, call 761-7433
from 8:00am-11:00am and 12:00pm-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Every attempt will be made to locate your lost item.
Lost and Found items will only be kept for 30 days and may be picked up
at Falls Ride offices located at 2100 Seymour Highway, during normal business hours.

Falls Ride
TRANSIT HISTORY
Public transportation services have been available to the residents of
Wichita Falls since 1909. In its beginnings, rail was the primary form of
transportation within the city. In 1935, street cars were discontinued and
buses were introduced.
Until 1950, the bus lines were managed by Wichita Transit Company. The
system was then handed over to Wichita City Lines (National City Lines),
and was owned and operated by the private company. In 1971, the City
of Wichita Falls assumed ownership and operation of the service and
changed the name to Wichita Falls Transit System (WFTS). In 2008, the
City of Wichita Falls approved a new transit system and adopted Falls Ride
as the new name.

READING A SCHEDULE
One weekday afternoon you decide to leave the Wichita Falls Public
Library to travel to Castaway Cove Water Park for the remainder of
the afternoon. Turn to the system map and find the route(s) that travels
nearest to the Library and the Water Park. This trip is best served by the
BLUE EASTSIDE ROUTE. The schedule includes a map of the route. The
map shows the names of the streets traveled along the route as well as
the direction the bus travels on these streets.
In this example you would board the bus at the Library, which is a scheduled stop at the 7th minute of every hour. You would need to get off the
bus at the Water Park, which is a bus stop but does not have a specific
time of arrival.
Reading across the top row, you will find the names of the key designated
stops along the route. Read down the column beneath Public Library, choose the most convenient departure time, perhaps 12:07
PM. Now read directly across from 12:07 PM, you will not find a time the
bus arrives at the Water Park since it is not a scheduled stop. The next
nearest scheduled stop is at US 287 at Wayfarer at 12:42, one stop
after passing the Water Park. The bus will stop at the Water Park, and you
can assume you will arrive a few minutes before 12:42.
One of the simplest rules for using timetables is to read down for departure times, across for arrival times. In some cases, when you are not getting on or off the bus at a scheduled stop, you will need to add or subtract
a few minutes to the listed time of the closest key designated stops you
will board or get off the bus.
