CELEBRATION OF YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHERS
CALL FOR ENTRIES

ASAP! is pleased to announce its 6th annual Celebration of Young Photographers to be held at South Farms in Morris, CT
on November 13th, 2016 from 2pm-4pm. Students from grades 6-12, including home schooled students, are invited to
submit a photograph based on a category under this years theme #CYPsmartphoto.
We invite you to submit your best photo in any of the following categories:
Grades 6-8:
Use composition of your shot to think about the light, colors and placement of your subject.
You can pick one of the following subjects for your photo submission:
1. Nature 2. People 3. Buildings/Architecture
Grades 9-12:

Composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the
subject of a work. Use composition in one of three ways to tell your story:
1. Unexpected whimsy 2. Ordinary object captured from a unique perspective 3. Tell a thought provoking story
A panel of judges will select the best photographs to be exhibited in a professional gallery, where participants will be
recognized for their outstanding work. The jury is composed of a wide variety of professionals, photographers and
artists. Prizes will be awarded to the overall winner from each grade group, 6-8 and 9-12.
Please follow the guidelines below for submitting your photograph. If you have any questions or do not understand the

Attention all Art/Photography Teachers:
Teachers that submit the most selected pieces for the exhitbit will be given recognition and a gift from ASAP!
Photograph Submission Requirements:
The photo has to be shot exclusively with a Smartphone (any model).
Be sure to take the photo in the HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting on the Smartphone to ensure the
highest resolution and save it as a JPEG (3200-4000 pixels on the longest side).
Edit your photo only with your Smartphone. The photo should not be altered in any desktop imageprocessing program such as photoshop.
Please label your image as follows:
- lastname_firstname
Example: doe_jane

Name, Phone Number, Title, Age, Grade, School, Art/Photography Teacher.b
Artists Statement about the Photo (one-sentence) and Category (ex: Nature, People, Architecture)
Identify Capturing Device
Attach Photograph (see requirements above)
Complete & Attach Release Form

- Do not send submissions with links to your image or website
Please send submissions to: photos@asapct.org on or before Friday, October 7, 2016.
ASAP! will notify those participants whose work has been selected for the exhibit. ASAP! will be responsible for
printing and framing the artwork. All photographs included in the exhibit will be for sale. Proceeds from the sale of
artwork will benefit ASAP! programs.
