Dear Parents,
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK

If you are interested in the provision of child care during the school holidays, please contact the school for
information regarding a holiday club that is to be taking place over the forthcoming half term break. See below for
further details.
MEET THE TEACHER MEETINGS PLEASE COME
We would like to make an invitation to all parents to come to a meeting to meet with your childs teacher over the
next two weeks. The meetings will be short and are intended to allow you to meet your childs teacher. Hopefully this
will help you become familiar with your childs class routines which always help school life run more smoothly for both
our staff and for you, our parents. More importantly, it will be a good way in which to discover more about what your
children will be learning this year and the expectations for their learning and homework. Please attend if you are able
to. You will, however, be most welcome to speak to our staff if you make an appointment through the school office or
by email using the school website.

GUITAR TUITION PLACES NOW AVAILABLE
Guitar / saxophone lessons have resumed. With some of our Year 6 guitarists leaving last year, there are now a
limited number of places available for new starters. If you would like your child to take part, please contact James Bell
on 07754 847683 or jamesbellsax@gmail.com.
PTFA 100 CLUB CASH PRIZE DRAWS EACH MONTH
Today you child will bring home a 100 Club Application letter. This was created last year in order to slowly raise
money to help the support the pool in the future. It is also a fun way to win a cash prize each month with far better
odds than winning the lottery! The more people that enter, the more the cash prize each month. If you can spare a
pound a month, please apply for a ticket to the PTFA by completing this form and sending it with payment to the
office in a marked envelope or by placing it in one of the secure cash boxes situated at the main entrance and around
school. We would love you to join us with this initiative if you can and wish you the very best of luck!
SENDING MONEY INTO SCHOOL
We would prefer all parents to make any payment to school by Parentpay. If you do not have your details for setting
up an account on Parentpay, please email aarmstrong@wldps.com and your details will be emailed to you.
If you do have to send in cash or cheques, please make sure it is in a named envelope stating what the money is for
(i.e. Dinner Money). Envelopes are available to purchase from the school office. This should then be posted in one of
the many secure boxes we have around the school, including outside the office. Please avoid handing cash over to
office staff and teaching staff.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS
th

Clubs taken by staff within the school will be commencing in one week. This will be the week beginning 19
September. This will allow staff to write to the children and parents and invite them to show an interest in their
chosen club/s. Staff will then message or write to you to confirm your childs place at their chosen club. If clubs have
demand, staff will select children wanting a place by fairly drawing their names from a hat.

APPLICATIONS FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY PLACES

If you have a child applying for a Primary place (Reception Class) or a Secondary place (Year 7) next September please
ensure you apply for a school or academy place online at: www.lancashire.gov.uk/schools or call 01772 532190.
