About the Business Line
Building Engineering
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our
building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering,
acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.
Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Principal Structural Engineer for to work on various retail mall
design projects in Abu Dhabi. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a structural design
team and overseeing multidisciplinary designs on a number of projects. As a leading member of the team, it is
expected that a Principal Structural Engineer will take responsibility for ensuring that all design work is
produced on time, to budget and in accordance with the project quality requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Leading the Structural team.

Working with project managers and other discipline team members.

Reviewing the concept design reports.

Reviewing project specific specifications in line with local standards and codes.

Completing the deliverables in agreed time and cost.

Managing large design projects for structural related activities and coordinated services.

Managing design according to local rules, regulations and design guides.

Managing design to British, American and/or International design standards as required by the project.

Managing QA and the checking of all design work carried out prior to formal issue.

Ensuring full coordination between the Structural elements of the design team, throughout the design
process.

Managing engineers, technicians and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) / Building Information Modeling
(BIM) staff.

Reviewing arithmetical checks and independent design checks of other design teams and design
reviews in accordance with quality procedures.

Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 20 + years of experience within Structural Engineering working for international Design
Consultancies.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required in Structural Engineering, as well as a MIStructe, Membership of the Institution
of Structural Engineers (UK)

Our Middle East operations have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to
join our Abu Dhabi office in United Arab Emirates. This position is integral to the team, reporting
to the Structures Group Manager and offers you the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary
architecture and engineering practice.
To be successful, you must be a qualified Structural Engineer, with a minimum 15 years
experience, ideally Chartered and / or holding a certification in project management, and a

sound understanding of current structural engineering technologies and project delivery of large
residential, commercial, industrial, educational, hospitality and/ or hospital developments.

You Will Also Have

A proven track record of delivering large-scale multidisciplinary project, on time and
within budget, including costing and programming.

Ability to successfully manage your clients and other significant internal and external
stakeholders.

Extensive experience in Structural Steel design, Civil/infrastructure and water

retaining structure design.

Experience in preparing fee proposals, winning jobs and negotiating contracts with
both your clients and subcontractors.

Leadership, time management and communications skills written and oral,

essential.

Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.

Middle East experience desirable.
