The American Express Company,
also known as Amex, is an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in Manhattan's Three World Financial Center in New York City, United States. The company is best known for its credit card, charge card, and traveler's cheque businesses. Amex cards account for approximately 24% of the total dollar volume of credit card transactions in the US. American Express has a market cap of $74.29 billion and an enterprise value of $110.44 billion They have over $33 billion in annual revenue and are present in over 130 countries.

dominated by key players such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express (AmEx), JCB, UnionPay, Diners/Discover, and Interac. Visa leads worldwide in credit cards with 48% market share, MasterCard follows with 32%. American Express has a share around 15%
Mutual fund provider Fidelity
Investments is considering dropping American Express and Bank of America to find new partners and better terms. Amex introduced Serve Cash Back, a new prepaid debit Account option that will earn Accountholders 1% cash back on purchases. Recently introduced a corporate credit card for small business groups in India. The credit card issuer is partnering Jet Airways to launch a new co-branded corporate card. The company is partnering with online travel portal MakeMyTrip and Payback for the largest coalition loyalty programme in the country, to introduce a cobranded card to capitalise on the growing popularity of online travel booking. American Express had entered the mid-income segment in India when it launched a co-branded card with Payback in June 2013.
