This document has been prepared for E-TimeLOG 9.2c.


Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device,
pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against
harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio

Chapter 1 -Introduction
By using state-of-the-Art technologies e-TimeLOG can interlink to TimeLOGs
database and display that data in numerous forms on intranet display screens. The
data is easily accessed, quickly processed and displayed. This system provides online attendance s.
e-TimeLOG is an internet interface and T&A platform for the TimeLOG software.
Its configuration is based on TimeLOGs definitions involving attendance and
project s. Thus, adjustment of fields/headings in the TimeLOG will be
simultaneously reflected in e-TimeLOG. This is achievable also for user access
levels changes.

1.1 System requirements

1.2 Working with e-TimeLOG


e-TimeLOG is installed on your main server and connects to TimeLOGs data base.
After a quick tour, using the browser, the user can locate the relevant data base files
and process this information as per his authorization level.
The user can perform the following activities:
Entry & exit reporting, project reporting, absence reporting (retroactively, future).
The user can also view and print various s such as: attendance, absence, projects,
exceptions and balance s.
The exceptions which is linked directly to the TimeLOG data base enables the user
to update his attendance data.

Chapter 2 -Installation
eTlogCfg.exe is the installation software designated for setting-up all components
required for the configuration and operation of the e-TimeLOG Popup HTML
interface.
WARNING!:Before running a new version make sure all reports sre approved by
the manager. Otherwise, the reports will be deleted.

2.1 IIS
The Internet Information Server, Microsofts web server is used in e-TimeLOG for
responding to queries of its client browser, it enables running scripts as per the
specific application. e-TimeLOGs working environment set-up requires also
integration with the DSN- Data Source Name- providing connectivity to a database
via an OBDC driver.
Step 1. After running the setup, the script directory to be used by default will be:
C:\Program Files\Synel\eTimeLOG8\English.

2.3 ODBC
Abbreviation of Open DataBase Connectivity, a standard database access method
developed by Microsoft Corporation. The goal of ODBC is to make it possible to
access any data from any application using compatible drivers. In e-TimeLOG the
ODBC defines the connection to TimeLOGs database.
Choose the path of the Tabs directory in which all data tables are stored.

2.4 Alerts

Any exceptional data management and follow-up is exercised via the Alert screen.
The first table consists of exception messages that will be displayed as per table

Under the Main tab mark the relevant exceptions to be alerted.


Mark the days of the week and the hour of alert.
In the Exceptions tab you can fill-in manually any alternate content for all
exception types. Click OK.
In the Mail Server section fill-in the server IP address. Then determine
which username and password will the user be required to fill-in.
In the Send Message Via section determine how the message will be sent
to the user.
The General section enables determining how often the server will query
the workstation for employee exceptions.

2.5 Update
Enables updating e-TimeLOG version from the network including a process display.

2.6 Registration
This button enables registrating the TimeLOG DLL, in case the DLL was, for some
reason, not registered automatically.

2.7 Proxy

Enables defining a proxy server for updates via the network. Fill-in all the relevant
information.

Chapter 3 -Routine operation


In order to log-in to e-TimeLOG you must set the browser by filling in the server
address and then your user name and password (up to 6 charecters).
e-TimeLOG offers an easy-to-use interface.

3.1 The main eTimeLOG menu


The main eTimeLOG menu, is user to login to the system and navigate to the various
e-TimeLOG screens.
This screen also displays the date and the last TimeLOG update.
has the following buttons:
The Mng button is used for performing daily activities of attendence reporting.
The Sys, Atn, Prj and Bal buttons are used to generate reports with various types of
data filtering.

This interface supports 5 permission levels (defined under TimeLOG | Personnel)


enabling ammending employee data as follows:
Supervisor

Can view all employees and make adjustments.

Manager

Can view and update data relating to the managers department.

Operator

Can view and update data relating to his team.

e-TimeLOGs interface consists of the following sections represented by the buttons


displayed.

3.2 Sys = System


Employees - Displays a detailed list of the companys employees.
Pertains to updated personnel and organization information:

Projects - Displays a detailed list of all current projects.

Dapartments - Displays a detailed list of all company departments.

3.3 Atn = Attendance


Enables issuing periodic attendance s:
Time Card - A monthly (as defined in TimeLOG) issued per employee
for a defined period (as per TimeLOG definitions). The manager can
confirm the report by electronic signature.

Following is an example of the Time Card :

Daily - Employees issued per a predefined time period.

Exceptions - Displays employees entry/exit/exceptions s - read only.


Processing of entry and exit s is performed only after TimeLOGs data
collection. Processing of exceptions s is performed immediately
including
calculations.

Update transaction - Same as exceptions but enables adjusting as


follows:
* Requiring supervisors confirmation, thus data is transferred to
DBonly after the supervisor has confirmed the .
* No confirmation required - data is transferred directly to the
TimeLOG collection file.
* The time defficiency is displayed in the report Time Edit field.
Note:

It is possible to add a new line.

Displays the updated report type as on in, out, duty/off duty, break/return
and project, according to what is defined in TimeLOG.

Please se an example of an Update (see added Entry row!):

Period - A depicting a periodic employee time classification summary


by departments. You can select an employee range, a deaprtment range
and the period to include in the report.
Annual - A depicting employee time classification annual summary by
departments.

Note: If a consists of one record only, it will not be possible to 2 different absence
types.
Note: Entry and exit data will be registered in TimeLOGs data base only after
manually/automatically performing the collect data procedure (Setup--

updated in the DB.

3.4 Prj = Projects


Daily Projects - Displays daily project data per employee.

Hours per project - A graphic displaying hourly project


calculation as per users definitions.

3.5 Bal = Balance


Balance summary - A graphic report comparing between balances of
departments and employees. For example you can display and
compare the expected vacation time balance of two departments.
A report can be displayed as a bar (see below), pie, or area graph.

3.6 Mng = Routine Activities


The Mng area is used to report employee attendence. Each of the keys uses
the funcuanality set for the matching buttons in TimeLOG.
In - Reports employee daily entrance or other use specifies in
TimeLOG. For example, Swipe&GO or return from break.
If using Swip&Go, and the Out button is disabled, this button is used
for all reporting and the syatem calculates to report type as in or out.
INAfter reporting entrance (In)you can manually enter an entrance time
prior to the entrance time reported.
IN/OUT - Is used to report Entrance and Exit simultaneously, before
or after the previously reported TimeLOG entrance or exit time.
Projects - Is used to report projects
Out - Reports employee daily exit or other use specifies in TimeLOG.
For example, Swipe&GO or out to break.
When working in the same shift after 23:59 (midnight) hours can be
reported as more than 24 such as 24:30, 26:00, 3026 ect.
Project - An employee daily project for a specified date.

Absence - An absence data periodic employee .

Manager confirmation - Enables the manager to confirm employee


exceptions.

Confirmations report - A displaying all manager confirmation of


employee exceptions.

4 - Permissions
4.1

TimeLOG Definitions

TimeLOG has 5 permission levels, that can be defined under Personnel |


Employment | Access Level:
For all access levels you must choose under Personnel | Employment the required
access level for the specific employee, and then perform other complimentary
activities for each access level as follows:
1. Supervisor

Designated for an overall view of employee information


including reporting. Enables approving/rejecting reporting
data.
2. Manager
Designated for department managers - You must assign all
the subordinate employees to the specific department.
The department is defined in the department field:
Personnel | Employment.
3. Operator
Designated for team managers - Go to Dictionary | Marital
Status and define a team name. Then, under Personnel |
Family Data choose the relevant team.
4. Operator not Designated for project managers - Under Personnel |
authorized to Project you must assign the relevant projects to this
employee.

reject reporting for his subordinate team only.
4. Operator not This employee will be able to view the Project Hours -fullyauthorized to not summarized only. The Summary only check box should

Electronic approval

This Manager Confirmation can be accessed only by the specific manager. First
the manager can view his departments employee list. Then he chooses an employee.
See the above screen. Herein, the manager can change read the data, change it/or not
and than approve it.
Note: As long as the ed data was not approved it will not be transferred to
TimeLOG.
The Confirmations that outlines the employee s that were approved, can be issued
by the manager only:

Troubleshooting
the following are solutions for errors that may occur during the operation of your eTimeLOG software:
Problem

It is impossible to log into the system. An


error message is displayed: Data source
name not found.

The vfpodbc.dll file was not copied to the


System32 folder. As a result no DSN was
created.
This file must be copied from the OBDC
folder in your Installation folder, and the
