What is SmartWedgeLite ?
SmartWedgeLite is a wedge application offered for free by Intermec and designed specifically for PC's
running Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

SmartWedgeLite allows your Intermec Bluetooth scanner

(such as the Intermec SF51 or SR61B scanner) to operate on
the PC in the same way that a wired wedge device attaches
to the PC, for example a Keyboard.

Once a connection is established all barcode data will be

keyed into the application that is given focus, for example a
web browser or a spreadsheet as illustrated, right.

Other features :

Up to 8 scanners can be connected simultaneously: 7 over Bluetooth, plus 1 USB

(virtual COM) or 1 Serial (physical COM port).

Has a built-in "Discover" function that lists all scanners found in the surroundings.

Creates dynamically a "Quick-Connect" barcode for one-step easy pairing -- just scan
the paring barcode off of the PC screen.

Handles non-printable characters e.g. the Separator characters RS, FS or GS.

Handles Function keys e.g. F1, F2 or F5.

Handles UTF-8 character encodation scheme.

Able to collect data from any serially connected tethered scanner.

Reconnects devices automatically (see section Automatic Reconnection).

Runs silently, in the background.

Handles international keyboards, based on the Language Bar selection :

From that folder, run the Setup.exe installer.

The Setup Wizard will walk you through the install process.

Note: Windows 7 users must run the installation with administrative rights.

To launch the application: either go to

menuStart > Programs > Intermec > SmartWedgeLite or double-click the icon
that was created on the Desktop in the step above :

The main GUI window will open.

Note that when the GUI is hidden (i.e. the application runs silently in the
background) it will remain accessible at all times from the icon tray :

To exit the application, right-click the SmartWedgeLite icon in the icon tray, then
clickExit :

Configuration Option

Open the main UI, then select Tools | Options :

The default security code (PIN code) in Intermec Bluetooth Scanner products is
0000
The security code is active by default in the SF51 and SR61B Scanner products.

When the auto-start option is checked, the scanners that were previously paired
will re-connect automatically, see section Automatic Reconnection.

It is possible to make the PC beep upon reception of barcode data, in

replacement (or in addition) to the scanner's own Good-Read beep.

The default wedging method is to be used most of the time. Applications such as
scanning over a Remote Desktop connection or into Citrix may require the
alternate wedging method.

ANSI character encoding is suitable in most situations. Transmitting nonstandard characters such as Cyrillic letters will require the UTF-8 option.

BDA filtering: this is optional. Use it to define the list of scanner(s) that is(are)
authorised to operate on the intended machine.

In the event the Quick-Connect barcode is not scannable off of your computer
screen, or you just need to print it out, use the option below to save a local copy
of the barcode as a JPG or BMP file.

When more than one scanner are attached simultaneously it may be desired to
identify which particular scanner has barcode data originated from. A pre-amble
specific to each scanner will help achieve that goal.
Use the EasySet software to create your custom pre-amble barcodes :

Automatic Connection

The scanners are "remembered" by the application and will be automatically reconnected :
o the next time SmartWedgeLite is started.
o when a previously-connected scanner is taken out of sleep.
o when a previously-connected scanner is taken out of radio range, then
moved back in range.

To delete one or more scanners from the "remembered" list :
