6.

The sealed booklet is your Question Paper. Do not break the seal till you are instructed to do so.
The question paper CODE is printed on the right hand top corner of this sheet.
Use the Optical Response Sheet (ORS) provided separately for answering the question.
Blank spaces are provided within this booklet for rough work.
Write your Name and Roll Number in the space provided on the below cover.
After the open booklet, verify that the booklet contains all the 60 questions along with the options are legible.

QUESTION PAPER FORMAT AND MARKING SCHEME :

7.

The question paper has three parts : Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Each part has three sections.

8.

Carefully read the instructions given at the beginning of each section.

9.

Section 1 contains 4 multiple Choice question with one or more than one correct option.
Marking scheme: +4 for correct answer, 0 if not attempted and 2 in all other cases.

10.

Section 2 contains 3 "paragraph" type questions. Each paragraph describes an experiment, a situation or a
problem. Two multiple choice questions will be asked based on this paragraph. Only one option can be correct.
Marking scheme: +4 for correct answer, 0 if not attempted and 2 in all other cases.

11.

Section 3 contains 10 questions. The answer to each question is a single digit integer ranging from 0 to 9 (both
inclusive).
Marking scheme: +4 for correct answer, 0 in all other cases.

OPTICAL RESPONSE SHEET :

12.

Darken the appropriate bubbles on the original by applying sufficient pressure.

13.

The original is machine-gradable and will be collected by the invigilator at the end of the examination.

14.

Do not tamper with or mutilate the ORS.

15.

Write your name, roll number and the name of the examination centre and sign with pen in the space provided for
this purpose on the original. Do not write any of these details anywhere else. Darken the appropriate bubble
under each digit of your roll number.

DARKENING THE BUBBLES ON THE ORS :

16.
17.
18.

Use a BLACK BALL POINT to darken the bubbles in the upper sheet.
Darken the bubble COMPLETELY.
Darken the bubble ONLY if you are sure of the answer.

19.

The correct way of darkening a bubble is as shown here :

20.
21.

There is NO way to erase or "un-darkened bubble.

The marking scheme given at the beginning of each section gives details of how darkened and not darkened
bubbles are evaluated.

This section contains THREE paragraphs

Based on each paragraph, there will be TWO questions.

Each question has FOUR options (A), (B), (C) and (D). ONLY ONE of these four option is correct

For each question, darken the bubble corresponding to the correct option in the ORS
Marking scheme :
+4 If only the bubble corresponding to the correct option is darkened
0 If none of the bubbles is darkened
2 In all other cases

Paragraph for Question Nos. 45 to 46

Adenine is a substituted form of a heterocyclic nitrogenous base Purine. Adenine is found in both
polymers DNA and RNA. Adenine is composed of the elements carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen
and has a molecular mass of 135 amu. Upon analysis, it was found that the ratio of % (by wt.) of
carbon to that of total % (by wt) of hydrogen and nitrogen was found to be 4 :5 respectively. The
ratio of number of N atoms to hydrogen atoms is 1 : 1.
Now, answer the following questions :
45.

In one molecule of adenine :

(A) % of C by mass =

400
9

(B) % of N by number =

100
3

(C) There are 15 atoms

(D) Total number of C atoms is double of number of Nitrogen atoms.

(D) 40 mg

Paragraph for Question Nos. 47 to 48

As we move along the lanthanide series, a property X increases by one unit at each successive
element. The new electron is added into the same subshell (nf). As a result, the attraction on the
electrons by the nucleus increases and this tends to decrease the property Y. Further, as the new
electron is added into the f-subshell, there is a phenomenon P of one electron by another in this
subshell due to the shapes of these f-orbitals. This phenomenon P is unable to counter balance
the effect of the increased nuclear charge. Hence, the net result is phenomenon Q.

47.

48.

Which of the following option(s) are correct?

(A) property X is nuclear charge

(B) property Y is atomic size

(C) n = 5

(D) phenomenon P is lanthanide contraction

Phenomenon P is characterised by :
(A) Poor penetration effect.

(B) Imperfect shielding.

(C) Greater penetration effect.

(D) Perfect shielding
