The DD Management Center database now correctly updates the time zone.

Known issues and limitations in DDMC 1.4

DDMC 1.4.5 does not support the ability to perform DD OS upgrades on systems in an
HA pair.

DDMC may incorrectly report an alert that a DD OS upgrade is in progress after a

DDMC upgrade was run and completed.

When logging into an HA pair from DDMC, one node may report a lockout while the
other node disregards the login attempt.

Navigating to another tab and back after initiating a failover in an HA pair may result
in the banner on the HA tab displaying that the system is failing over to the incorrect
node. This does not impact the failover process, and the display will correct itself
after several minutes.

Physical Capacity Management schedules may fail with the error There was an
exception retrieving data. Please view your log files when
attempting to view the schedule for a system running DD OS 5.7 with Extended
Retention.

Launching Data Domain System Manager may fail with the error Invalid user
"<username>" for a system running DD OS 5.7 with Extended Retention.

In the following situations, you may not be able to select the most recent data point
in a chart: (1) You adjust the visible range of the chart by clicking and dragging within
the chart. When dragged back to show recent data, you cannot select the most recent

EMC Data Domain Management Center 1.4.5.2 Release Notes

Release Notes

data point. (2) An auto-refresh has occurred, and a new data point has been added to
the chart. The new data is visible in the chart, but you cannot select the actual data
point. In both cases, to see the new data, update the range of the chart by moving the
navigator bar at the top of the chart.
l

Report generation fails when the max report limit of 500 is reached.

DD Management Center cannot support a Data Domain system running 5.5.0.4. You
must upgrade this system to 5.5.0.6 or later. See the Data Domain Management
Center Version Support Matrix for more information.

During an upgrade, you may get the error, Unknown registry key:
group.upgrade.skip_ver_check, which you may safely ignore. This group does not
exist on DD Management Center.

If a Data Domain system has virtual network interfaces configured, the System
Details Network Throughput Chart for that system might show graph lines for network
interfaces that do not really exist. These graph lines should be ignored. The names of
these non-existent interfaces will begin with eth followed by 1 to 4 numbers. For
example, a graph line for eth1 might be shown when eth1 does not exist on the
Data Domain system.

After configuring Windows authentication, enable CIFS authentication from the DD

Management Center command line by using the following command:
adminaccess authentication add cifs

If you run the full replication report on a DD Management Center configured for a large
number of Data Domain systems, such as 100, the report may take several minutes to
run. If the time exceeds five minutes, a Bad Gateway error may appear. The error
is innocuous; simply dismiss it, and the report will continue running to normal
completion.

If you navigate to the DD Replication page and click on the Lag button to open the
filter and then press Backspace on the keyboard, the navigation occurs as expected,
but the filter stays open.

If you are upgrading from DD Management Center 1.0 to DD Management Center 1.2,
you must modify the VMware server SCSI controller type in order for the upgrade to
succeed. See GUID-96579778-4093-4A2C-95B2-65DD4773D1D2.

A Data Domain system periodically sends historical data to the DD Management

Center. If there is an issue transmitting this data due to network problems, the Data
Domain system may issue an alert (historical data file transfer
failed). The DD Management Center will not report the Data Domain system as
unreachable until there have been multiple transmission failures. If you occasionally
receive these alerts from your Data Domain system, you may want investigate for
network irregularities.

You cannot log in to the DD Management Center if the /ddr/var/ partition (also
known as /ddvar) is full, or nearly full, and the monitored Data Domain systems use
several different DD OS versions. The workaround is to log in using the CLI or else
wait 5-10 minutes before logging in with the GUI. (For information on how to free up
space on the /ddr/var/ partition, see the EMC Data Domain Operating System
Administration Guide for your version of the DD OS.)

Do not rename any software installation or upgrade package that you received for
your Data Domain system and its licensed features, including the DD Management
Center. Installation and upgrade processes and procedures rely on the exact names
of the software packages. Renaming a software package will cause the installation or
upgrade process to fail.

Known issues and limitations in DDMC 1.4

Release Notes

Upgrading to DDMC 1.4

You can upgrade to Data Domain Management Center 1.4 only from a DDMC running
release family 1.2 or 1.3.
EMC supports upgrading DDMC by only up to two release families at a time (1.0 to 1.1 or
1.2; 1.1 to 1.2 or 1.3; 1.2 to 1.3 or 1.4; 1.3 to 1.4; and so on).
To upgrade to DDMC 1.4 from a release family earlier than 1.2, you will need to upgrade
in steps.
DDMC 1.4.5 only supports the large configuration from previous DDMC releases. When
upgrading to DDMC 1.4.5 from a small or medium deployment of a previous version,
power off the DDMC virtual machine and increase the system resources to the required
levels before performing the upgrade.
For the exact upgrade steps for your DDMC, see the DDMC Release Notes appropriate to
your release, which you can find on the EMC Online Support site.
