BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

People got into unnecessary hazards and accidents due to their failure to understand what
signage(s) mean. In some cases, these hazards and accidents happen due to absence of the hazard
signage(s).

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMS

1. What is the initial level of understanding of common people to existing hazard signage(s)?
2. What is the initial level of understanding of common people to simpler hazard signage(s)?
3. What is the effect of existing hazard signage(s) to common people?
4. What is the effect of simpler hazard signage(s) to common people?
5. What is the significance of both existing and simpler hazard signage(s)?

HYPOTHESIS

To the first two problems stated, we cannot give any hypothesis.

Problem 3:
Null hypothesis: There is no effect to common people.

Alternative hypothesis: Brings harm to those who are not capable in understanding the existing
signage(s).

Problem 4:
Null hypothesis: There is no effect to common people.

Alternative hypothesis: Prevents harm, because common people are more capable in
understanding simpler signage(s).

Problem 5:
Null hypothesis: Both existing and simpler hazard signage(s) have no significance.

Alternative hypothesis: It can save peoples lives, from the hazards that are present, during
hydrometeorological occurrences, and within the span of those manmade hazards as well.

DATA GATHERING

We used survey to gather the data we needed. The questions are the following:
1. Are you aware of the hazard signage(s)?(e.g. Maynilad Signage(s))
2. Do you clearly/ fully understand the signage(s)?
3. Which signage do you think that can be understood by more people?

4.
5.
6.

Do you prefer the signage(s) in Filipino?

Are risks being reduced when the signage(s) are easier to understand?
Do the signage(s) help in risk reduction?
We surveyed 30 people, and here are the results that we got.

DATA ANALYSIS

The data above showed that :

A. Majority people are aware of the hazard signage(s)
B. Almost half of the people understand the hazard signage(s)
C. Many people prefer the hazard signage(s) to be in Filipino
D. Many people perceives the hazard signage(s) help in risk reduction

CONCLUSION
Our study therefore concludes that many people residing in Garnet St., San Nicolas III,
Bacoor City, perceives that both existing and simpler hazard signage(s) has effect in their lives, as
well as reducing risks. Our hypothesis was proved by the data we collected.

In addition, this study showed that many people of Garnet St., San Nicolas III, Bacoor City
perceives that the simpler hazard signage(s) is more helpful than the existing hazard signage(s), in
reducing risks.

PROJECT PROPOSAL
In order to help with this issue, we as the students of City Of Bacoor Senior High School- San
Nicolas proposes a step in order for the people to prevent risks. We are going to make simpler signage(s)
that are easily understood by most people, to help in reducing risks during hydrometeorological hazards,
within the span of manmade hazards, which includes signage(s). We made the simpler signage(s) in
Filipino language, in order to be more understood by the people.

Example of the simpler signage(s):
