LOCATION

University Library is situated fronting the Gymnatorium. It is a 3 story


building that accommodates the following library sections:

All person using the library facilities and resources are


requested to conduct themselves in manner that will not
disturb the peace, quite and order of the library.

Absolute silence must be observed. Loud conversation


and unnecessary noise should be avoided.
2. Library users must minimize the volume of their cell
phones. Calling, receiving of call and sending text
messages should be done outside the library.
3. Users should be reminded that the library is primarily
for serious study and research.

Smoking, eating, drinking, littering, and loitering and
the like are not permitted.
5. When approaching the library staff, library users must
conduct themselves politely and courteously.
6. Dating inside the library is strictly prohibited.
7. Bags are not allowed inside the stock area.
8. CU student, faculty and staff are requested to
swipe/scan their I.D at the computer upon entrance to
the library. (ID is not transferable).
9. CU alumni must present their I.D and fill up the log
book.
10. Other users must present their I.D and ALINET referral
slip and fill up the log book.
11. Charging of cellphones, laptops & others are not
allowed.
BORROWING AND RETURNING OF LIBRARY MATERIALS

How to Borrow Library Materials:

Check the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) to verify


if the book is available at the library
On a slip of paper, copy the call number, location
symbols if any, and the title of the book.
With the call number and location symbols as guides,
look for the books in their respective section. If the book
is not on the shelf, approach the loan counter staff and
inquire if the book is out for home loan or at the reserve
section.
Before going to the reading area, check out the books at
the loaning/charging desk for proper charging, get your
receipt.
For reserved books, I.D card must be left together w/ the
filled reserve card at the charging counter.
Borrowing of books is until 5:30pm only.

How to Return Library Material:

Present your book for scanning / check in at the


charging desk.
Make sure that the attending staff at the loan counter
shall properly check in/scan the book and cancel the
book card as soon as the book is returned.
Date due card is checked to see if the book is not over
due. The date due entry is then cancelled.
If the book is over due, he/she pays the fines.

FINES AND SUSPENSION POLICIES:


Library materials returned late are subject to overdue
fines. Sundays and holidays are excluded in charging overdue.
Fines are charged to insure prompt return of library materials;
below is the charges:

Computation of Reserved Books is continuous. (24 hours).


Fines for overdue books must be paid immediately.
Overdue notices will be posted at the bulletin board.
Photocopying is allowed for 15 min. after which a fine of 10.00/ hr.
is charged.

GENERAL CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY PREMISES

LOAN PERIOD POLICIES:

Each library section has a separate loan desk. The loan


desk services stops (1) one hour before the closing time of
the library.
CU students may borrow (6) six books at one time for
home use for a week. Books may be renewed if there are
no prior requests. This policy applies to books from the
circulation, NANUME section, and graduate library.
General Reference Filipiniana books, theses, dissertation,
graduate, Gen. Reference books, NANUME reference
books, archives and other special collections are strictly
for room use only.
Periodicals Section - newspapers and journals are strictly
for room use only.
Reserved books can be borrowed for room use only for one
(1) hour and may be renewed for another hour if there are
no prior requests. A user can borrow only one (1) reserved
book at a time.
Photocopying of library materials is limited to 15 minutes
only. A fine of P10.00 per hour will be imposed for failure
to return it on time.
Loan period for books for home use closes one (1) week
before the start of the final examinations.
All library materials are for room use only once signing of
clearance begins.

Lost book while on loan must be reported immediately to


the section where the book was charged out; otherwise
overdue fines will be charged continuously if not settled.
Lost book must be settled within a month after it was
reported. Failure to settle will mean temporary suspension
on the use of library materials.
If lost book are recovered or retrieved beyond the term, no
refund shall be entertained.

Lost books should be replaced with a book of the same title and
author. (Revised edition is appreciated).
No available copy, the borrower must pay the cost of the
book plus 25% marked up and P50.00 for processing fee
paid to the cashier and the receipt to be presented to the
Librarian.

DAMAGED LIBRARY MATERIAL POLICIES:

A damaged library material must be replaced. If it is repairable,


a fee of P50.00 shall be charged to the borrower.
Missing or torn pages in any borrowed material must be
reported immediately to the section where the book was
charged out; otherwise the student would assume the
responsibility for the damage.

SECURITY CONTROL
ENTRANCE: Users entering the library premises should
swipe/scan or present their school
identification card upon getting inside.
EXIT: Users leaving the library should present their books
and open their bags, folders for inspection to the
authorized personnel assigned at the exit/Control
Counter.

Electronic Resource Section


Comprises the internet access, multi media resources
and e journal access.
* A bonafide user is allowed (1) one hour usage to give chance to
other user.
* Purely for research purposes.
* Print out of research articles is available with a fee of P5.00 /
page.
* Encoding and use of USB is strictly not allowed.

Discussion Rooms
The University Library provides (6) six discussion rooms (3 at
the 2nd floor circulation section and 3 at the 3rd floor at the center for
NANUME section) intended for students who needs to discuss /
group study and for interactive research.

Users must fill up the logbook.


Although secluded, users must still minimize / control their
voice in order not to disturb other users.
White Board is provided; users must bring their own white
board marker (not pentelpen).
Cleanliness must be strictly observed. Eating, drinking and
sleeping are not allowed.
Using of laptops and other digital / electronic devices are
allowed provided they will not use current.
AVR In support of the teaching-learning process, the
library provides various audio-visual materials and appropriate
projection and listening equipment. This section houses the
non-print resources, like, microfilms ,audio and video tapes,
transparencies, CDs, VCDs, ,DVDs and equipments to make
these resources functional and operational at present, the
University has 7 AVR fully equipped with LCD and Cameras and

state of the art sound system to support the interactive


learning process.
Photocopying Service
Photocopying machines are available from 8:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m from Monday to Saturday. These are found outside at
the second and, third floor of the library building.
Library Cooperative / Resource Sharing
The Library is a member of Academic Libraries
Information Network in Mindanao, Inc. (ALINET) which allows a
faculty and students to use other library resources of all ALINET
member school within Mindanao. A user will secure a permit or
referral slip from the Director of Libraries and will pay P20.00 per
visit; other researchers will pay P50.00 / visit. Payments to the
cashier, present the OR to the librarian.
