A few words about Hybrid Energy AS

A Fresh and innovative start

1995:

Development of the hybrid process @ Institute of energy technology, Kjeller Norway

2000:

First Pilot - Tine

2004:

Proven technology and company establishment

2006:

First Commercial Unit Rudshgda

2007:

Final patent grant

2012:

8 hybrid HP installed and over 100 000 hours of operating time

built on a strong backbone:

Committed owners

Industrial partners and established research centers

The Hybrid Heat Pump

A patented and proven technology:

Based on Osenbrcks Process and following the Lorentz cycle

Combines Absorption and Compression

Uses natural refrigerant (NH3/H2O mixture)

Built with standard pieces of equipment for the industry

Delivers heat at temperature level of 70-115C (By now)

Operates at low pressure (below 25 bar) compared to conventional HP

Recovers waste energy from 30-65C (preferred range)

From 250kW to 2,5MW with one unit (By now)

Can easily be put in cascade with a chiller

The Hybrid Heat Pump

An innovative, yet both simple and flexible process:

- Gas Liquid Separation

- Note the counter flow on the
source and sink side - excellent fit
for high temperature differentials

The Hybrid Heat Pump

A competitive edge on all other conventional high temperature heat pumps due to:

1 - The refrigerant properties - (High temperature at low pressure):

Pressure (bar)

Vapour Pressure Curves

Temp. (C)

Allows for high condensation temperatures at medium pressures (4% water in ammonia
gives approx. 108 C at 20 bar)

The Hybrid Heat Pump

A competitive edge on all other conventional high temperature heat pumps due to:

1 - The refrigerant properties - (High temperature at low pressure)

2 - The resulting glide - (Concentration change affect both condensation and boiling
temperature within the Heat exchangers)

2 - The resulting glide - (Concentration change affect both condensation and boiling
temperature within the Heat exchangers)

3 The remarkable live system flexibilty

A - By changing the circulation ratios (between the compressor(s) and the pump).
Effect: Optimized Temperature glide across heat exchangers

B - By tuning the liquid level in the HP receiver.

Effect: Optimized delivered temperature, heating duty and seasonal variations
