AUCKLAND

Auckland is an international city of 1.4 million


people. Built around a stunning harbour, it has
world-class facilities and a diverse multi-cultural
population. The Auckland campus is on the North
Shore, which has over 30 sandy swimming beaches.
It is just a short drive from the city lights of central
Auckland, yet has a real community feel and
beachside character. Within walking distance of the
campus youll find plenty of cafs, a large shopping
centre, cinema complex and sporting facilities.

PALMERSTON NORTH

Palmerston North, in the Manawat


region, is a hub of agricultural development
and research. It is compact, friendly and
accessible. It is a young person's city with
a third of its population aged 15 to 30 years
old. It offers affordable accommodation,
plentiful cafs and restaurants, a multiplex
cinema, live theatre and music, indoor/
outdoor swimming pools, shopping, an
airport and much more.

Wellington is New Zealand's capital city, the


seat of our government, and a great place
to live. It is compact and set between a
magnificent harbour and green hills, where

THE CONNECTORS CAMPUS

Massey Manawat in Palmerston North, is about


connecting and growing in specialties such as
Agribusiness and Food Technology, supported by
world class teaching and research. It is home to
top academics across a wide range of disciplines

Science and Aviation programmes. The campus

nnDISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR HARJINDER SINGH


Massey Institute of Food Science and Technology,
College of Health
Harjinder leads the world of food innovation to solve
the big food, health and nutrition challenges facing
the globe. Recognised with numerous national
and international awards for his work, the world-renowned authority
drives the Massey Institute of Food Science and Technology. He offers
innovative teaching programmes combined with world-class research
opportunities and facilities to create nutritious foods for the future, food
and nutrition security, food safety and food innovation. Food science
is one of the most exciting fields to work in, tackling challenges from
sustainability through to obesity.

nnASSOCIATE PROFESSOR JANE GOODYER


School of Engineering and Advanced Technology
Associate Professor Jane Goodyer is an expert in
manufacturing systems design, specifically helping
organisations improve their productivity. She has
worked with the UKs aerospace, automotive and
New Zealands primary industry sectors. Her skill base has also extended
to cofounding the UNESCO University Network on humanitarian
engineering that involves collaborators from Europe and Africa.

nnPROFESSOR HARALD VAN HEERDE


Research Professor, Massey Business School
Professor Harald van Heerde is considered
one of the worlds leading marketing scientists.
Originally from the Netherlands, he earned his
PhD in Economics at the University of Groningen.
He has been placed 11th equal in the world for marketing research by
the American Marketing Association (AMA). In his research, Harald
uses econometric models to improve marketing decision making. His
expertise includes the measurement of advertising, price and sales
promotion effects, loyalty programmes, marketing mix strategies to build
brands, and retail assortment optimisation.

My study experience was really great. Some of my friends have done
development studies with other institutions, and I can confidently say
that Masseys course was by far the best. The lecturers were friendly
and helpful and there was a wonderful mentor and family environment,
which I hold with high regard and remember with affection. I became
very close with the other students in my class and there were always
people to support me in both my personal and student life."

Master of Aviation. General Manager of Aviation
Safety and Regulation, Civil Aviation Authority,
Mongolia
Graduating from Massey University with a
Postgraduate Diploma in Aviation with Distinction in 2012 and with a
Master of Aviation with Merit in 2013 was a boost in my professional
career and as a result I have been appointed as Director General of the
Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia, which is one of only 28 Implementing
Agencies of the Government of Mongolia.

When I applied to a few universities I was only 17 and
about to move to New Zealand from India by myself. I chose Massey
because the mechatronics course seemed like exactly what I wanted
a good mix of electrical, mechanical and computer engineering.
I enjoyed Massey because its not intimidating the sizes of the classes
were big enough that you had a lot of mates but small enough that you

COLLEGE OF CREATIVE ARTS

The college is proud to be providing a world-class creative arts education that can be traced back 130 years,
and its faculty continues to lead the country in design and visual arts research. It offers undergraduate degrees

>> National Expedition and Internship - Massey offers a customised study
abroad experience that takes place over the Northern Hemisphere
summer. This programme combines a two week national expedition and
a four week internship in a local business or organisation.
>> Generation Study Abroad scholarships - US citizens or residents can
apply for a US $2000 travel award to help with flights to New Zealand
and US $500 towards study abroad or student exchange at Massey
University.
>> Funding for German students - IEC Online and Deutsche Bildung have
partnered to offer EUR 3000-30,000 in a financial support programme
for German students to study here.

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE (UE)

From 1 March 2014, to be awarded University Entrance (UE) you will need:

>> Three subjects - at Level 3, made up of 14 credits each, in three
approved subjects
>> Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above made up of 5 credits in reading
and 5 credits in writing
>> Numeracy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of specified
achievement standards or a package of three numeracy unit standards
(26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).
Fourteen level 3 credits in the NZIM Certificate in Management or the
NZIM Certificate in Small Business Management, or a completed Young
Enterprise Certificate (YES) may be able to be used toward meeting the
NCEA Level 3 entrance standard. Applications are assessed on a case-bycase basis and students should provide information about any such credits
at the time they apply.

>> For most undergraduate level programmes, the minimum academic


entry requirement is successful completion of a qualification equivalent
to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance.
International students need to check the equivalency of their secondary
school qualification by reviewing the list of Academic Admission
Requirements by Country (see page 25 onwards).
>> International students who have previously studied at a New Zealand
secondary school should refer to the secondary school requirements

>> International students who have completed three x B at level 5 or six
passes in the New Zealand Diploma of Business may apply for entry
into a Bachelor's programme providing the following:
> An NZQA transcript as formal evidence of the NZDipBus results
is required before credit will be assessed and only courses with a
minimum grade of B will be assessed for credit.
> The English language requirements can be met by:
1. A minimum IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) used to gain entry to

Graduate Diplomas
Admission to a Graduate Diploma requires successful completion of a

Semester
Massey University has two
semesters each year (Semester 1
and Semester 2). Each normally
involves 13 weeks of teaching
