AcademicIntegrityPolicy
NorthMuskegonPublicSchoolsexpectsthatallfacultyandstudentswilladheretohigh
standardsofpersonalandacademichonesty.Thismeansthatallacademicworkwillbedoneby
thestudenttowhomitisassignedwithoutunauthorizedaidofanykind.Facultymembers,for
theirpart,willexercisecareintheplanningandsupervisionofacademicworksothathonest
effortwillbepositivelyencouraged.
Academicdishonestyconsistsof,butisnotlimitedto:
Cheating.Cheatingisdefinedasusingorattemptingtouse,givingorattemptingtogive,
andobtainingorattemptingtoobtain,materialsorinformation,includingcomputer
materialpertainingtoaquiz,examination,orotherworkthatastudentisexpectedtodo
alone.
Plagiarism.Plagiarismisdefinedastheuseofanother'swordsorideaswithout
acknowledgement.
Penaltiesforviolationofthesestandardsofconductwillresultinfailureofthe
assignmentaswellasdisciplineoutlinedinthestudenthandbook.

Studentresponsibilities:Asastudentinthisclass,youareresponsibleforworkinghardto
advanceyourselfacademicallygiventheopportunitiesaffordedintheclassroomexperience.
Youshouldtakepainstobepreparedforclassbydoingallassignedreading,bringingan
independentreadingselectioneachday,usingschoolissuedtechnologyappropriately,
participatingindiscussions,andusinganotebookandwritingutensilsfornotetaking.

Attendance:

Regularattendanceisessentialforpromotionandsuccessinyourschoolwork.Participationin
classroomactivities,classroomdiscussions,andcertainotherinteractionsareallnecessary
ingredientsofthelearningprocess.Studentsshallbeinattendancefor90%ofscheduledclasses
ofeachcourseinordertoearncreditinthecourse,ifallcourseobjectiveshavebeenmet.Ifa
studentispresentlessthan90%ofscheduledclasses,thestudentwillreceiveagradeofN(no
credit)forthecourse.For20122013,90%attendanceis53daysperterm(7absences).

Studentswith811absencesshallberequiredtotakethesemesterexamforthecourseandearna
gradeofatleast78%(C+)toobtainthecalculatedgradeforthecourse.Ifthestudentdoesnot
earnagradeof78%onthefinalexam,agradeofN(nocredit)willissuedforthecourse.

Studentswith12ormoreabsenceswillreceiveanN(nocredit)unlesswrittenverificationof
extenuatingcircumstancesaresubmittedtothebuildingprincipalandapprovedbythe
attendancecommittee.
